Creation Moment 10/14/2014 - Ex Nihilo vs. Quantum Vacuum

QUANTUM VACUUM

Some atheists are trying to claim that, (our universe), something came from "nothing". This they claim, happened in a quantum vacuum.
That a small quantum fluctuation, as it relates to the conservation of energy, caused SOMETHING to pop into existence.

EX NIHILO

Of course "nothing" means the absence of the possibility for existence within itself.
Ex Nihlo means that God, which is separate from the universe, is the SOMETHING that brought the universe into existence.

SUMMARY

If the universe created itself--it would have to already exist. Therefore, creation by Ex Nihilo by God is the only logical conclusion....

Wilson, speaking in a sermon that serves as his annual world pastoral address, said the devil’s tactics include ecumenism, charismatic worship approaches, and attacks on biblical prophetic understanding, and he said he had felt the blows personally in recent weeks with the death of a prematurely born grandson and the discovery that two other grandsons suffer serious health problems.

Wilson repeatedly pointed to the Scriptures and the writings of Ellen G. White, co-founder of the

Adventist Church, as the way to discern God’s will during the 70-minute sermon, which was punctuated with frequent “amens.” At one point he urged Annual Council delegates to make sure that they weren’t reading the Bible upside-down.

“When you read the Bible upside-down, you will get an upside-down understanding,” he said, citing an African saying that he heard on a recent trip.

He singled out the historical-critical method of biblical interpretation as undesirable, saying it clouded the themes and topics of the Bible.

Wilson, ..... listed a number of other ways that he saw the devil seeking to destroy the Adventist Church, including:

• Inspiring a belief that reformation within the church means giving up unique doctrines so that it is easier for people to become Adventists.
• Using tradition and philosophy to destroy faith in the Bible.
• Urging people to move independently of the main body of the church.
• Advancing charismatic and Pentecostal music and worship approaches that focus on church members and those leading out in services rather than on the true worship of God.
• Distracting people with secular activities such as competitive sports, the Internet, the media, financial deals, and materialism.
• Encouraging poor health habits and a lack of respect for God’s natural laws, thereby enfeebling the mind and benumbing the senses.
• Stirring skepticism about the veracity of the scriptural record of the origin of life and early history.
• Spreading spiritualism.
• Promoting ecumenism, or cooperation and better understanding among Christian faiths with the unattainable goal of universal Christian unity.

Wilson strongly cautioned against associating with ecumenical groups.

“Don’t succumb to the temptation to be so cozy with other religious organizations that you fall into the devil’s trap of neutralizing your own effectiveness through unbiblical ecumenical bonds,” he said." ANN

Creation Moment 10/12/2014 - Evolutionary Racism of Galton

Francis Galton was the 1st cousin of Charles Darwin. He was a proponent of the evolutionary subfield known as eugenics, which led to the holocaust.
....Galton wrote... "In Africa, as elsewhere, one population continually drives out another...I wish to see a new competitor introduced - namely the Chinaman. The gain would be immense to the whole civilized world if he were to outbreed and finally replace the negro."

His people, clothed with the sun (He is the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings), and the moon reflects the sunlight......think about it in the context of the above verse from 1 John.

1) The evolutionary tree of life.... both cladistic & descriptive usually rely on synapomorphies (traits which define a branch but suffer from problems of homoplasy). Also, some evolutionists point out that HGT (horizontal gene transfer) has scrambled the evolutionary tree of life so bad that it should be scrapped altogether.

2) Biblical Tree Of Life... would explain a special fruit which likely renewed the telomeres of cells to keep a human living  in their prime as long as they ate from it. Therefore continuing life as long as you had access to it.

The archaeologists estimate the 8.6-inch paten is from the fourth century A.D., and they suspect it was used to hold Eucharistic bread. The image shows Jesus in a philosopher's toga, along with two other — also beardless — male figures, whom researchers suspect are Peter and Paul, two of Jesus' apostles. All three of the men are depicted with halos. "The scene takes place in the celestial orb, framed between two palm trees, which in Christian iconography represent immortality, the afterlife, and heaven, among other things," the archaeologists said in a statement.

So by looking at the pic---one can see that the iconography of the sun disk (halo) behind the head was already coming into vogue (which was related to sun worship) & this in ancient "Spain" in the 300's A.D., which means shortly after Constantine.

Creation Moment 10/8/2014 - Consciousness "zombie" Problem

P.S.--In other words---IF all our organs evolved the same--we should all be zombies--for where does the unique consciousness come from in evolution?
"W. Alex Escobar wrote an article for The Conversation that tells you everything you need to know

in the title: "Breaking down experiences into millions of parts may help explain consciousness." The rest is details about neurons and qualia (our perceptions of the looks, feels, tastes, etc., of nature around us). The important thing is that his model is a bottom-up approach.

Escobar tries out his theory on vision, assuming the ideas can be extended to other types of qualia. He sees groups of neurons at a first stage he calls V1, V2, V3 that perceive red, green, and blue, for instance. Then higher-level groupings of neurons (V4, V5, etc.) moderate these inputs, yielding the infinite variety of colors we experience. Result: qualia, from simple building blocks.

* Aside from sharing the same problems with evolutionary theories of other complex systems, Escobar's bottom-up theory of consciousness suffers setbacks peculiar to consciousness. For one, it assumes what it needs to prove: that consciousness supervenes on matter. You can watch neurons firing between themselves for ages, and never see the conscious experience of qualia.

* Another setback is that his system provides no confidence that one person's qualia are similar to another person's. He might point to natural selection and common ancestry to support this, but then one would expect humans from one side of the planet to develop completely different qualia from those on the other. When Europeans met Native Americans who had crossed the Bering Strait long ages before, they were able to relate to one another as if their perceptions of nature were very similar, language differences notwithstanding.

* A third difficulty is that Escobar doesn't solve the "zombie" problem discussed by Chalmers. Evolutionary theory might account for sensory organs that can react to red or green, or loud or soft sounds, without ever leading to consciousness, thus resulting in "zombies." Conscious experience is above and beyond what is necessary for survival. Each of us knows that we are not merely reacting to stimuli; we are experiencing the world in a deep, personal way.

We're being as charitable to Escobar as possible so far, because all the problems with Darwinian evolution as a creative process apply with a vengeance to consciousness. His theory is merely a restatement of Darwinism as applied to the mind. The mutation/selection process cannot account for irreducibly complex systems that are characterized by complex, specified information." EN&V
