Remind Me - Please

LORD,
remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
Psalm 39:4 NLT

Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Creation Moment 8/7/2013 - Plant Internet

"Researchers have just documented how plants use underground fungal networks to warn neighboring plants of impending insect attack, uniquely illustrating the complex and highly designed interconnected cooperation found in nature.
The research study—just published in the July, 2013 issue of Ecology Letters—is the first such report that confirms and reveals how plants have uniquely co-designed physiologies that internetwork with other plants using an underground fungus as an information conduit. This amazing and intricate system allows the plants to readily and effectively communicate as a community, like a
natural biological internet.
Prior to this study, scientists were aware that mutually beneficial relationships existed between plants and certain fungi that colonize the soil surrounding the plants’ root systems. These beneficial soil microorganisms are called “mycorrhizal fungi” and are known to promote overall plant growth and help them cope with insect attacks, pathogens, and drought stress. In fact, scientists had been aware of the possibility that mycorrhizal fungi could enable plants growing together in close groups to signal and prime each other’s chemical defense systems in response to attacks by insects.
In a paper published just last year, scientists proposed the idea that this communication occurs through the release and detection of information-carrying chemicals that traverse the soil matrix through mycorrhizal networks that work like information superhighways directly connecting plants below ground. This is accomplished because the thread-like fungus grows underground, producing strands called mycelia that connect one set of roots to another. Now this research hypothesis has been spectacularly confirmed…." CR

When God tweaked the creation after the fall, He made it so that everything seems to have a defense mechanism implanted so as to give all a chance of survival in a fallen world.

Good Motherly Advice From Mary

If there is anything we can possibly learn from Mary, as she is dead & awaiting her resurrection day, it would be the above statement of hers....

SDA Issues - booth 1109 (So that's how they got a booth)

At the 2000 GC session held in Toronto, Canada - a group known as 'Kinship' got booth 1109.
Election of Paulsen
as President in 2000
Kinship is an advocacy group for homosexual issues. Their goal is to get the Church to change its views on the subject.

So just how did a group advocating non-Biblical positions get a booth at the GC conference that year? It turns out that someone named C***** G**** (I'm withholding their name since this isn't about attacking them personally) applied for booth 1109. Once this individual got permission for the booth, they turned it over that day to Kinship.
So that's how they got booth 1109 in Toronto....

For there are certain men crept in unawares, (literally at Toronto) who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness,

At what point should Christianity take the Bible serious on this topic?

Creation Moment 8/6/2013 - $$$ This kind of NONSENSE $$$

"The public is invited to write a message that could be sent into space, in an attempt to communicate with an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization, as part of the University of Toronto’s 2013 Toronto Science Festival.
“We are asking everyone to think about what you would say to an intelligent, extraterrestrial being,” says TSF organizer and astronomer Michael Reid of the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at U of T.
The messages will be transmitted to two stars, named Tau Ceti and Kepler 62. Because Tau Ceti is only 12 light-years from Earth, the radio signals will reach that system in 12 years. If someone is there to receive the message and respond, we could conceivably hear a reply in the year 2037."

Debate over Book of James

There are some "Christians" who reject the book of James or down play it. Here are a few of their reasons.
a) They claim it was written to the "Jews" scattered abroad. But we know from Paul that it would mean the Christians, the new spiritual "Jews".
b) They claim, erroneously, that James contradicts Paul. They believe that James taught salvation by works (false).
c) Some are more clever & tricky, claiming that James should be considered historical rather than for doctrinal formation. (But the WHOLE BIBLE should be studied for doctrinal formation-which would include James).

My response is simple:
1) There is NO contradiction between James & Paul - you have some who simply misinterpret Paul.
 even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
2 Peter 3:15,16
2) BEWARE anyone who tries to diminish--or take scissors---to parts of the Bible because it contradicts THEIR doctrine. The problem isn't between the books of James & Paul---the problem is the interpretation by some. If YOU find what YOU believe to be a doctrinal contradiction in Scripture, the problem isn't the Holy Writ....the problem is your interpretation...
For precept must be upon precept,
precept upon precept;
line upon line,
line upon line;
here a little, and there a little:
Isaiah 28:10
3) As for trying to separate Scripture for "historical" Vs."doctrinal" use...  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

SDA Issues - Hand Clapping in Church?

Saying, Amen:
Revelation 7:12

So when did hand clapping creep into the Holy Sanctuary in place of "Amen"?

Colin & Russell Standish wrote about the 1980 GC session held in Dallas, TX "It was the session when I first heard the scattered clapping more suited to the concert hall....replacing the appropriate 'Amen'. It has never stopped, and now 'Amen' is rarely heard and clapping, ... is the order of the day."
On Eight General Conference Sessions p.24,25

“Jesus did not seek the admiration or the applause of men”
The Ministry of Healing, p. 197 E.G.W.

"The only reference to hand clapping in connection with worship is Psalm 47:1, 2: "Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth." First, we note that God alone is the recipient of this exuberant expression of joy. Secondly, there is no indication here or elsewhere in Scripture that hand clapping was a regular feature in worship. And in any case, we can say with certainty that hand clapping did not come into the Seventh-day Adventist church as the result of a prayerful search of the Bible and Mrs. White's writings. It came, rather, as so many things have, out of 'a desire to pattern after other churches' " AdventistAffirm

Four Hebrew verbs are used to express the action of clapping (macha', nakah, saphak, taqa'), and all of them contain, as would be expected, the idea of striking something or someone. They are used in conjunction with the noun "hand" (Heb. kaf) to communicate the action of clapping ("striking the hands"). The phrase is used in several different ways.
        1. It is an expression of joy at the ascension of the king: This a social function of the gesture. When Joash was introduced as the legitimate heir to the throne those who were present clapped their hands and shouted, "Long live the king!" (2 Kgs. 11:2). A religious usage is found in Ps. 47:1 where the psalmist invites all peoples to clap their hands because the Lord is being proclaimed as King over the earth. In Ps 98:8 the people are exhorted to praise the Lord and the hills to clap their hands because the Lord is coming as King and Judge of the earth. Even nature should rejoice before the Lord.

        2. It is an expression of joy on account of God's saving actions: The return of the people of God from their captivity in Babylon is described by Isaiah as an act of redemption. What the Lord will do for His exiled people is so wonderful and glorious that even nature will rejoice. In this context the prophet personifies the trees of the field and describes them as clapping their hands as a gesture of joy (Isa. 55:12).

        3. It is an expression of disgust and anger: Balak was angry because Balaam blessed the people of Israel instead of cursing them and he showed this emotion by clapping his hands (Num. 24:10). Ezekiel clapped his hands in disgust after seen the evil practiced in Judah (6:11). The Lord clapped his hands in anger and disgust as a reaction to dishonest gain and to the blood spilled out by His people in Jerusalem (22:13; 21:14, 17). This is a symbolic action on God's part that is followed by His judgment against unrepentant sinners.

        4. It is an expression of malicious glee: This meaning is found exclusively in the context of defeated enemies. In the prophecy against Nineveh God announces that all those who will hear about it will clap their hands over the city and its misfortune (Nah. 3:19). The Ammonites clapped their hands and rejoiced with malice against Israel when is was being destroyed by the Babylonians (Ezek. 25:6). It is this same contempt and hostility that those passing by the ruins of Jerusalem expressed by clapping their hands (Lam. 2:15). This hand gesture was indeed a sign of hostility and derision.
Rodriguez concludes his brief but insightful study: “There is no clear evidence that this gesture [clapping/applause] was part of the worship service in the Old and New Testaments. In fact, I did not find the phrase in the New Testament. Therefore, there does not seem to be any biblical parallel to what is taking place in our churches today. You may ask me, Why we do it? I am not sure there is an answer. I suspect that we incorporated clapping into our services from our cultural environment. Clapping is usually associated with the entertainment industry but has become very popular in evangelical televised religious services. Perhaps we copied it from them.”" HereWeStand

"A British same-sex couple says they will go to court to force churches to host gay weddings. Barrie Drewitt-Barlow told the Essex Chronicle that he and his civil partner, Tony, will take legal action because, he says, "I am still not getting what I want." A government bill legalizing gay marriage passed Parliament in the U.K. recently, but it included measures to protect churches from being forced to perform same-sex weddings. "The only way forward for us now is to make a challenge in the courts against the church. It is a shame that we are forced to take Christians into a court to get them to recognize us," said Drewitt-Barlow. "It upsets me because I want it so much -- a big, lavish ceremony, the whole works. I just don’t think it is going to happen straight away. As much as people are saying this is a good thing, I am still not getting what I want." Creation Moment 8/5/2013 - PigTales

"As happy as a pig in mud.......BBC, running the headline, “Pigs have ‘evolved to love mud’”.
They base their story on the claims of Marc Bracke of Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Now it is a fact that pigs do not have sweat glands, thus wallowing in cool mud helps to keep them cool and also protects against sunburn. But Bracke tells a tale of the pig’s need to wallow being anchored in its (supposed) evolutionary history.
“We all evolved from fish, ( Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:22 ) so it could be that this motivation to be in water could be something that was preserved in animals that are able to do so.”
And Bracke says that evolution didn’t stop at the pig. Happy to cite other evolutionists’ theories that a pig-like animal gave rise to whales, Bracke says its love of mud was the key:
“An ‘innate’ preference for wallowing-like behaviour may thus have been instrumental in the evolution of whales.”
And again:
“It seems to me that this preference to be in shallow water could have been a turning point in the evolution of whales from land-dwelling mammals.”
So, whales arose through some porcine love of wallowing in muddy water, (Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:22 which itself was a throwback to an evolutionary ancestor that lived in it? And Bracke didn’t just mean fish, but all the way back to the mooted beginning of life in some muddy pond. “Life seems to have started in a ‘mud pool’ ( Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:22 )or ‘earth-soup’” wrote Bracke in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science." ARCHAEOLOGY: Part of Nehemiah's Wall Found?

"A biblical wall that has eluded archaeologists for years has finally been found, according to an
Israeli scholar. A team of archaeologists in Jerusalem has uncovered what they believe to be part of a wall mentioned in the Bible's Book of Nehemiah.
The discovery, made in Jerusalem's ancient City of David, came as a result of a rescue attempt on a tower which was in danger of collapse, said Eilat Mazar, head of the Institute of Archaeology at the Shalem Center, a Jerusalem-based research and educational institute, and leader of the dig.
Artifacts including pottery shards and arrowheads found under the tower suggested that both the tower and the nearby wall are from the 5th century B.C., the time of Nehemiah, according to Mazar. Scholars previously thought the wall dated to the Hasmonean period (142-37 B.C.).
The findings suggest that the wall is actually part of the same city wall the Bible says Nehemiah rebuilt, Mazar said. The Book of Nehemiah (chapters 3-6) gives a detailed description of construction of the walls, destroyed earlier by the Babylonians.
"We were amazed," she said, noting that the discovery was made at a time when many scholars argued that the wall did not exist.
"This was a great surprise. It was something we didn't plan," Mazar said.
However, another scholar doubted whether the wall was biblical." NBC

Creation Moment 8/5/2013 - Moses was right?

"Unto the 3rd and 4th generation:  A headline on Science Daily sounds almost Biblical: “Gene Mutations Caused by a Father’s Lifestyle Can Be Inherited by Multiple Generations.”  Moses had said that a father’s sins can affect offspring; was he stating a fact of epigenetics unknown in his day?  He was undoubtedly referring to spiritual effects, but it’s becoming apparent to scientists that “a father’s lifestyle has the potential to affect the DNA of multiple generations and not just his immediate offspring,” because changes in the regulation of genes can be passed on through the gametes of his children and their children." Argentina: Adventist History

* 1886 - A Swiss Waldensian living Argentina receives a package from Europe with a paper mocking an SDA baptism. He became curious and began to study himself into the truth.

* 1890 - A group of 4 Russian & German families (one had previously lived in Argentina) sold their Kansas farms and decided to go to Argentina to spread the Everlasting Gospel. They arrived on a Friday. A gentlemen offered to allow them to stay in his home temporarily. When they said why they had moved from Kansas to Argentina, the gentleman said he had heard of this Sabbath message while in Europe. That Sabbath the man worshipped with them.

* 1891 - First SDA colporteurs arrived from North America (C.A. Nowlin, A.B. Stauffer & E.W. Snyder).

* First two evangelists followed, the brothers F.H. & J.W. Westphal.

* 1899 First SDA school opened with 29 students (River Plate Jr. College)-built by a man from Uruguay.
Pedro Kalbermatter

* Early SDA hero- Pedro Kalbermatter, born of Swiss parents. Drafted into the military, he refused to work on Sabbath. He was whipped until unable to stand and jailed. At a hearing of officers & a Catholic priest, he defended himself well enough that a national law was passed allowing SDA's in Argentina to be excused from Sabbath work in the military. And what became of Pedro? He went on to be a missionary nurse to Peru. He died in 1968 back home in Argentina. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

SDA Issues - The Source?

Examine me, O LORD,
and prove me;
try my reins and my heart.
Psalm 26:2
"In our work no side issues must be advanced until there has been a thorough examination of the ideas entertained, that it may be ascertained from what source they have originated."
Special Testimonies E.G.W.

From what source comes the divisive issue of women ordination?
From what source comes the divisive issue of "celebration" services (dividing congregations over music styles into a traditional & contemporary service Sabbath mornings).
From what source comes the divisive issue of homosexuality into the Church discussion? (Has God changed because it the 21st century? Has He also then changed His position on other acts He lumped into the same category such as adultery, witchcraft or bestiality?)
From what source comes the attack on the core doctrine of the Sanctuary?
From what source does "higher criticism" stem, as it crawls creeping into the Church?
.......I would suggest it's the same source---& it isn't God........

Who slew Goliath?

  1. "David did  - Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand. 1 Samuel 17:5
  2. Elhanan did - And there was war with the Philistines again at Gob, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. 2 Samuel 21:19
The answer lies in two areas. -  And there was war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. 1 Chronicles 20:5

This is the correct answer; namely, that Elhanan killed Goliath's brother.

Second, it appears there was a copyist error in 2 Samuel 21:19. According to Gleason Archer's Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties on page 179, it says,
  1. The sign of the direct object, which in Chronicles comes just before "Lahmi," was '-t; the copyist mistook it for b-t or b-y-t ("Beth") and thus got Bet hal-Lahmi ("the Bethlehemite") out of it.
  2. He misread the word for "brother" ('-h) as the sign of the direct object ('-t) right before g-l-y-t ("Goliath"). Thus he made "Goliath" the object of "killed" (wayyak), instead of the "brother" of Goliath (as the Chronicles passage does).
  3. The copyist misplaced the word for "weavers" ('-r-g-ym) so as to put it right after "Elhanan" as his patronymic (ben Y-'-r-y'-r--g-ym, or ben ya 'arey 'ore -gim -- "the son of the forests of weavers" -- a most unlikely name for anyone's father!). In Chronicles the 'ore grim ("weavers") comes right after menor ("a beam of ") -- thus making perfectly good sense.
Therefore, we see that 2 Samuel 21:19 had a copyist error and 1 Chronicles 20:5 is the correct information." CARM

And another apparent "contradiction" of Scripture answered........

Creation Moment 8/4/2013 - John Ashton

"Science was flourishing and amid its youngest and brightest, one student in particular consistently topped physics and chemistry courses, took its academic prizes and was courted with offers of scholarships by prestigious universities. His trajectory was toward the heights of the scientific world.
In our age of enlightenment and postmodern reasoning, scientist Dr John Ashton’s journey stands as an exception, demonstrating the fact that studying science doesn’t always destroy one’s faith. Sometimes it creates it.
Over the years, Ashton has accumulated two doctorates, the first in chemistry and the second in epistemology (the theory of knowledge). He’s also written countless papers, contributed significant findings to the scientific community and penned multiple books. His most recent is Evolution Impossible. Nevertheless, despite all the accolades and accomplishments, being heard as a creationist among the growing chorus of evolutionary evangelists is to be in the midst of a constant battle.
Ashton says that while most of the scientists he works with are quite civil about their differences, agreeing to disagree, behind the closed doors of research centres and publishers—metaphorically and literally—things are different.

“I had a book about to be released and was working on advertising with one of the largest and globally most popular science magazines,” he says. “I told them about the book and its scientific support of creation, and suddenly they became disinterested.
Similar walls have been erected against Ashton’s applications for research grants at various institutions.
“There is no evidence anywhere in the scientific world that demonstrates the creation of new genetic information,” Ashton says. “Small pieces of genetic code have been transferred or removed, but nothing is new. Without these new pieces of information, there are no scientific answers for creation’s arguments.”
Another of the most confounding issues for an evolutionary explanation of life is that of synergy—the interaction of two or more elements that, when combined, produce an effect that is greater than any one of them can produce alone. Ashton believes that this concept lies at the root of “a lot of mistakes, particularly in environmental and health sciences.” He explains it’s a little bit like two men being able to carry more than twice the load that either of them could carry alone.
“Nature seems to be able to create synergies within systems that defy simple logic,” Ashton says. “This causes significant issues for scientific research.”
Beyond his scientific discoveries, Ashton has found two significant issues that pose challenges to those presenting a case for creation. “First, there is a profound lack of knowledge about the Bible in the scientific community,” he says. “Many scientists operate and make judgements on assumptions that are completely wrong.”
Another is the pervading notion that all scientists believe in evolution. “It’s pretty safe to say that there are many leading scientists across multiple fields who prove this is wrong. But the attitude is again evidence that the debate has been taken off the table.”"

If Jesus is God, then why did He say the Father was greater than He?

Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father:
for my Father is greater than I.
John 14:28

Christ wasn't saying that He wasn't equal with the Father, but rather that He was also a man, and therefore in a lower position while in that form.

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Hebrews 2:9

Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation,
and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Farewell meassage of M.L. Andreasen

A farewell message penned by pastor M.L. Andreasen for his own funeral in 1962. Andreasen was a Danish-born American SDA pastor who spent time in his youth with Mrs. White. He later led a charge against the leadership of the late 50's who were weakening the Church's doctrinal positions so as to be accepted by evangelicals.

"So, dear ones, be faithful and true, even to the end.
I shall rest in hope, looking forward to the day of glad reunion.
I love my God.
I shall soon see Him.
I love you that are here today;
I love music; I love flowers; and I appreciate your love.
"Farewell, then, till we meet again.

ARCHAEOLOGY: Piece of Cross Found?

Was a piece of the cross found? I doubt it..but who knows?
"Archaeologists working on a dig in Turkey say they might have found a very important relic: a piece of the holy cross.
While working in the ruins of Balatlar Church, scientists say they discovered a small stone chest with two crosses carved into it. Inside was a splinter of wood which they believe may be one of the greatest finds ever made.
According to experts, the church–which was built in the year 660–could very well have been one of the final resting places of one of the four pieces of wood which were taken from the cross and sent to parts of Rome, Constantinople, and Turkey. Several other interesting finds have been made at the site, such as around 1,000 human skeletons, but this is by far the most important, according to excavation leader Professor Gülgün KöroÄŸlu.
“We have found a holy thing in a chest. It is a piece of a cross, and we think it was [part of the cross on which Jesus was crucified]. This stone chest is very important to us. It has a history and is the most important artifact we have unearthed so far,” said KöroÄŸlu." YahooNews

SDA News - "Sabbath" victory in NC

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A hotel group which owns and operates the Comfort Inn Oceanfront South in Nags Head, N.C., has agreed to pay $45,000 and provide substantial additional relief to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.
The EEOC's suit charged that the hotel group refused to provide Claudia Neal, a Seventh-Day Adventist, with a religious accommodation of not having to work on her Sabbath, which is from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday.  Neal began working at the hotel in May 2009.  Initially, Neal's request not to work on her Sabbath was honored.  However, a change in management occurred in October 2010, and in November of that year, the hotel group refused to provide her with a religious accommodation, and fired her.

"Lance Cpl. Myles Kerr may have lost the Jeff Drenth Memorial 5K footrace in Charlevoix, Michigan, last weekend, but he won the hearts of hundreds of thousands of admirers.
the 19-year-old Marine noticed 9-year-old Boden Fuchs struggling to complete the race. The boy had become separated from his group. According to the Facebook page, Seal of Honor, which posted a photograph of the pair running together, Boden asked Kerr, "Sir, will you please run with me?" Kerr, wearing boots and fatigues, and carrying a full backpack, stuck with the boy, encouraged him to complete the race, and helped him reunite with his party at the end of the course—even though Kerr was dead last in his age group, clocking in at 35:43 minutes (five seconds behind Boden).  "Think of it as a parking garage that can add more levels as it gets full. "The theory explains that this structure is seen in nature because it maximizes the cell's ability to make a large number of proteins while minimizing the energetic cost to the cell," Rapoport says." ScienceDaily

IN the NEWS - The book "Zealot": Who is Reza Aslan?

Author Reza Aslan,of the book "Zealot", which re-writes Christ, is exposed for who he actually is....,
Watch Clip below...

Book analysis from the Political Right:
"Make no mistake, he is a progressive radical above all else. He wants to change our understanding of history and our relationship to God to create social change. That’s what he’s teaching at Drew University. I mean, at least when he’s a visiting professor occasionally at Drew University, the class has chosen, they know what they’re walking into, to witness the art of protest in literature, film, art, and music.
What he is currently doing, he’s acting it out. His goal is to cause doubt in believers of Jesus and ultimately have them leave their faith like he did so Progressives will have more devoted followers who can do whatever their hearts desire tells them to do – change our history, change our traditions. That’s what this is really all about," TheBlaze

Book analysis from the Political Left:
"Aslan paints a vivid, accessible portrait of Jesus as a Jewish nationalist, “a zealous revolutionary swept up, as all Jews of the era were, in the religious and political turmoil of first-century Palestine.” He knows that, even now, this idea will come to many Christian readers as a shock: The real Jesus, he writes, “bears little resemblance to the image of the gentle shepherd cultivated by the early Christian community.”" NewRepublic

Book analysis from PAUL:
For I know this,
 that after my departing
shall grievous wolves enter in among you,
 not sparing the flock.
Acts 20:29

Waste of Time

"What are the works on which, throughout the most susceptible years of life, the minds of the youth are led to dwell? In the study of language and literature, from what fountains are the youth taught to drink?--
From the wells of paganism; from springs fed by the corruptions of ancient heathendom. They are bidden to study authors, of whom, without dispute, it is declared that they have no regard for the principles of morality.
And of how many modern authors also might the same be said! With how many are grace and beauty of language but a disguise for principles that in their real deformity would repel the reader!
Besides these there is a multitude of fiction writers, luring to pleasant dreams in palaces of ease. These writers may not be open to the charge of immorality, yet their work is no less really fraught with evil. It is robbing thousands upon thousands of the time and energy and self-discipline demanded by the stern problems of life." Education p.227 E.G.W.
And further, by these, my son, be admonished:
of making many books there is no end;
and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Ecclesiastes 12:12

Hezekiah & the Sun Dial event

"Interestingly, when Mercury is near perihelion, its rotation rate essentially matches its revolution rate, such that it keeps the same side pointed at the sun for several weeks.
The sky remains black even when the sun is up, since Mercury lacks the comfort of Earth’s thick atmosphere. The sun then gradually climbs higher in the sky over the next several weeks. The stars also rise in the east, seeming to move at about twice the speed of the sun. But as Mercury approaches perihelion, the sun seems to gradually slow its upward path, while the stars continue to rise and set at their usual pace. The sun is now noticeably larger than we witnessed at sunrise and over three times larger than it appears from Earth—and ten times brighter! Then the sun gradually comes to a complete stop and begins to travel slowly backward just slightly for about a week. We might feel like Hezekiah!
It then slows to a stop once again and reverses direction once more. The sun then gradually resumes its forward path, shrinking and fading a bit as Mercury moves toward perihelion. The sun eventually sets in the west, roughly three months after sunrise.
Critics sometimes declare that God cannot do certain things, such as make the sun go backward as He did for Hezekiah. Such things are simply not possible, we are told. Yet this happens every three months on Mercury. It is probably not the same mechanism that God used for Hezekiah. Nonetheless, it is to the shame of those critics who attempt to tell God what He cannot do." ICR

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.
So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down. The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:

Creation Moment 8/2/2013 - Dog Smells Fossils - undermines evolution

"Gary Jackson and his dog, Migaloo, trained to sniff out buried remains, work with local Australians to uncover archaeological sites and help police locate the remains of murder victims. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, “Migaloo quickly located the 600-year-old remains of an indigenous Australian,” which researchers found a decade ago. But her specialized training resulted in an unforeseen crossover—Migaloo can also smell fossils.
A dog should not be able to smell fossils if the standard fossil formation story is true. This scenario assumes trickling minerals slowly replaced long-dead bones over millions of years. This process supposedly replaced all original bone material, essentially forming rocks that preserve only the bone shapes. If true, then the bones should no longer smell any different than the surrounding rock.
Animal remains buried for several dozen or maybe even several thousand years might retain some of their original organic components. But that would require special conditions, like rapid burial followed by quick drying, to protect the remains from hungry microbes. Since all rocks are porous, no underground encasing could indefinitely protect remains from chemical reactions.2 If the original material was not replaced by minerals, then it would have decayed and disappeared long before a million years elapsed—especially under a warm Australian climate.
Apparently, nobody explained these complicated fossilization issues to Migaloo and her sensitive sniffer. The black Labrador-bull mastiff identified megafauna bone remains tagged at 2.6 to 5.3 million years old. How did she do it?

Studies continue to identify animal proteins in deeply buried fossils, including collagen, elastin, ovalbumin, histone, keratin, osteocalcin, and even hemoglobin. Time has taken its toll on these long-buried proteins, but they retain enough of their original integrity for clear identification.4 The still-intact organic molecules inside these fossils indicate they are many times younger than tens of millions of years." Iron Sharpens Iron

"The greatest want of the world is the want of men--
men who will not be bought or sold,
men who in their inmost souls are true and honest,
men who do not fear to call sin by its right name,
men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole,
men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.
But such a character is not the result of accident;
it is not due to special favors or endowments of Providence.
A noble character is the result of self-discipline,
of the subjection of the lower to the higher nature--the surrender of self
for the service of love to God and man."

IN the NEWS - Earth barely missed

"The earth barely missed taking a massive solar punch in the teeth two weeks ago, an "electromagnetic pulse" so big that it could have knocked out power, cars and iPhones throughout the United States.
Two EMP experts told Secrets that the EMP flashed through earth's typical orbit around the sun about two weeks before the planet got there.

"There had been a near miss about two weeks ago, a Carrington-class coronal mass ejection crossed the orbit of the Earth and basically just missed us," said Peter Vincent Pry, who served on the Congressional EMP Threat Commission from 2001-2008. He was referring to the 1859 EMP named after astronomer Richard Carrington that melted telegraph lines in Europe and North America.
But Washington is giving them the cold shoulder, especially the administration. Woolsey told Secrets that some in Congress are interested in the issue, but the administration is just in the "beginnings" of paying attention.
Woolsey said that Air Force One and aircraft used by the Strategic Air Command to control nuclear-tipped missiles are hardened against an EMP.
The EMP effect is not rare. One occurred in Canada in 1989, knocking out Quebec's electric transmission system. And North Korea is reportedly testing a device to attack the U.S. with an EMP attack." WashingtonExaminer

Could something like a massive solar flare that shuts off power, including cars & phones, be part of the time-of-trouble when it begins???.....What if one hits us hard and a large percentage of the earth is without electricity for awhile? And no phones, no operating vehicles for rescue? No power in hospitals & nursing homes? What about planes flying overhead when it hit? Would they all drop from the sky?.......Just a thought....

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:

Creation Moment 8/1/2013 - Amber Lizard

And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,
Genesis 1:24
"The Amber Museum in the Mexican city of San Cristóbal de las Casas has a new specimen. Amber sometimes preserves insects, but this specimen contains a whole lizard.

This unique discovery confirms two clear trends found in amber fossils.

...one clear trend—animals and plants found as amber fossils look remarkably similar to their living counterparts.

A second clear trend among amber finds, one that the Mexican lizard fossil also confirms, has to do with their ages. Assigning an age of millions of years to these artifacts introduces a thus-far unsolved problem—how to explain the preservation of pristine tissues and whole body structures after millions of supposed years lying within Earth's layers.

Francisco Riquelme of the National Autonomous University of Mexico describing the amber specimen as, "a complete and articulated animal that also preserves remains of soft tissue and skin." After all, lizard tissues are made of proteins, and studies have clearly shown that proteins turn to dust in only thousands of years—especially in tropical temperatures. Like original insect biochemicals and intact body tissues found in amber deposits around the world, these lizard remains retain their pristine quality. If they're really millions of years old, the body tissues would have certainly turned to dust. Of course, if these ambers originated within the last few thousand years, the age problem dissolves." Could Matthew have been among them?

Could Matthew, the publican, been among them
who came to be baptized by John the Baptist?
Then came also publicans to be baptized,
and said unto him,
Master, what shall we do?
Luke 3:12

And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him......and Matthew the publican;
