Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
Daniel 3:1
BABYLON-666-(roots of the beast's false worship)
Babylonians had a pantheon of 36 gods who ruled 10 days each.
36x10=360 days (their yearly calendar)
If you add 1 through 36 consecutively (i.e. 1+2+3+4,etc.) = 666
Their supreme god Marduk was NOT counted among the 36 since he ruled them. His was the sun god and ruled over the others. As a result his number was 666.
The priests wore gold amulets with 666 for Marduk, the sun god. Color of the sun is gold.
Babylon was the color gold in Daniel.
Nebuchadnezzar set a statue that was 60x6 cubits (=360)
360 was the number of days in the yearly calendar
Marduk, the god of the 36 gods who ruled each 10 days of the year, was 666
The statue was made of gold...it was likely a statue of Marduk
*The Faithful Remnant- (notice they don't worship the "gods', hence the statue was Marduk representing the 36 gods who represent 666)
There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:12
*Who were the accusers to the government about the Remnant?--the "Chaldeans", religious leaders
Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
Daniel 3:8
