As a result, head-on collisions are much more likely to occur between the ‘oddball’ prograde and the retrograde moons, which are moving in opposite directions. “This is an unstable situation,” said Sheppard. “Head-on collisions would quickly break apart and grind the objects down to dust.”

Clearly,

A sci-fi movie portraying a sexual relationship between a man and a robot that replicates his lost 10-year-old daughter has prompted walkouts and outrage at its screenings at the Berlin film festival.

The film, titled The Trouble with Being Born and directed by Austrian Sandra Wollner, stirred controversy at its February 25 world premiere at Berlinale 2020, reported the U.K. Independent.
It depicts a child-like android, played by 10-year-old Lena Watson (a pseudonym), who calls her owner “Daddy.”

According to a review in Slant, the film plot reveals that the android, Elli, “was built to replicate the father’s daughter, who disappeared 10 years before.”

The film evoked disgust on Twitter, with one person calling it “paedophile propaganda,” ....
That was echoed by FilmGoblin in a review entitled “Pedophilia gets mainstream nod in The Trouble with Being Born.”

Wollner told the Hollywood Reporter, which described the film as a “hidden gem,” that the role was originally intended for a 20-year-old.
However, she decided to cast a child after removing some more explicit elements in the script.

The bill, sponsored by Democratic Assemblymember Evan Low (Silicon Valley), says each “retail department store shall maintain one, undivided area of its sales floor where, if it sells toys, all toys, regardless of whether a particular item has traditionally been marketed for either girls or for boys, shall be displayed.”

The bill, AB2826, includes similar language for clothing and “childcare articles” such as pacifiers. It would apply only to retail chains with 500 or more employees, with each violation costing $1,000.

A legislative counsel’s digest accompanying the bill makes clear its intent.
“This bill would require a retail department store … to maintain undivided areas of its sales floor where, if it sells childcare articles, children’s clothing, or toys, all childcare items, all clothing for children, or all toys, regardless of whether a particular item has traditionally been marketed for either girls or for boys, shall be displayed,” the digest says.
The goal is to have a “gender-neutral” retail department, the bill says."

sparked pushback last week for asking students a series of LGBT-themed questions, including if they identify as transgender.
The questions on the survey within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system were eventually pulled, but not before parents raised concern about their appropriateness.

This year, the survey added questions for sixth through 12th graders about sexual identity, WSOC reported.
The survey’s most controversial questions, according to WSOC, read:

"In biochemistry, a metabolic pathway is a linked series of chemical reactions occurring within a cell that leads to the formation of one or more functional products. Metabolic pathways are the means living entities use to convert, via enzymes (proteins), one compound into another.

--A molecule that starts a chemical pathway inside a cell is called a substrate, a substance on which an enzyme acts.
--Enzymes are also called biological catalysts and are designed to make biochemical reactions proceed with incredible speed.
--When an enzyme connects with a substrate (reactant molecule), the substrate breaks into two product molecules (products) while the enzyme remains unchanged and immediately connects with another substrate.
--These reactions occur in a fraction of a second.

Cellular pathways begin outside the cell when a ligand (or first messenger) encounters a specific protein detector (or receptor) that is suspended in the plasma (or cell) membrane.
A large family of these detectors is called G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs).
These GPCRs are designed to detect specific biomolecules (ligands) outside the cell and initiate internal signal pathways inside the cell and, ultimately, create cellular responses such as the production of proteins.

A parasitology textbook commented on internal cellular reactions in protozoa and “the multitude of other metabolic events that make biochemical pathways look like printed circuits of high-tech electronic equipment.”

One must ask if these complex and ordered pathways

"Having failed to have a court declare chimpanzees to be persons entitled to habeas corpus protection, the Nonhuman Rights Project next tried the same thing with an elephant named Happy, that — not who — is held in her own pen at the Bronx Zoo due to behavioral conflicts with other elephants.

This case also just failed. But before we applaud and say, “Well, of course,” it is clear that New York Supreme Court (the name of the trial court in that state) Justice Alison Y. Tuitt only dismissed the case because she felt bound by precedent.

Justice Tuitt clearly wanted to declare Happy a “person.”
Still, it provided a splendid pretext for her to add her voice in support of the Nonhuman Rights Project so it could use her opinion in its advocacy memes (which it did quickly).
From Tuitt’s ruling:
"This court is extremely sympathetic to Happy’s plight and the NhRP’s mission on her behalf. It recognizes that Happy is an extraordinary animal with complex cognitive abilities, an intelligent being with advanced analytical abilities akin to human beings…
The Court agrees that Happy is more than just a legal thing, or property. She is an intelligent, autonomous who [note the “who”] should be treated with respect and dignity, and may be entitled to liberty."

 First, we don’t treat animals as mere things or as being akin to inanimate objects. After all, we don’t have granite welfare laws.

We don’t have beach-sand welfare laws. But we do have animal welfare laws — precisely because we understand that animals are sentient, have emotions, and can feel pain — meaning, as a matter of human exceptionalism, we have the duty to treat them humanely.
Second, even if Happy had been declared a person, she would not have been granted “liberty.” Rather, her custodial care would simply have been transferred from the zoo to an elephant sanctuary. Happy would have had no choice in the matter.
Third, if animals obtained “legal standing” to sue, it would enable the most radical and extreme animal rights advocates to weaponize the courts as a potent means of advancing their obsessions at the expense of human needs and courtroom resources. The animals supposedly doing the suing would be utterly oblivious.

But we shouldn’t elevate animals artificially to a co-equal moral status with us, because that would actually reduce our own moral status without warrant to theirs.

automatically accommodate whatever we are doing.
On close inspection of these mind-boggling complex processes, one can see evidence of design, purpose, and foresight.

Other mechanisms that keep us alive include hunger. Imagine not knowing when your body needed nourishment. No hunger pangs, no desire?
Hormones unconsciously tell our bodies when it’s time to eat and others tell us when to stop.
“Bad” food, if it passes the sniff test, causes us to vomit or have diarrhea to get rid of it.

The 4-4-4 rule says that we would perish

without oxygen for four minutes,

Each of us is an incredibly complex biological machine that runs almost silently.
