Both pretend to use the scientific method and reach conclusions that are expected to be viewed as superior to ‘religious’ views concerning right and wrong ethics, or normal and abnormal behavior.
Even biologists get suckered into “biological psychology,” figuring that humans are nothing more than evolved animals, and therefore whatever we see in the biological world must be considered normal.
For instance, Science Daily says in a headline, “Scientists challenge notion of binary sexuality with naming of new plant species.” Are plants politically correct now? If a tomato exhibits gender fluidity in some way, then human traditional-values advocates must face the “science,” and (by implication) allow transgender women (biological males) to compete in women’s sports.
Even when observations discredit current PC views about sexuality, psychologists and their cohorts in the science news media never repent of promoting false views. For instance, a piece in Medical
Xpress about “Study of sexual orientation and mental health in New Zealand LGBTQ adults” under a photo of two males holding hands under rainbow lights, admits that “Gay, lesbian and bisexual New Zealanders are on average more than twice as likely to experience depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts as heterosexuals, new research shows...Could that be because those ‘orientations’ are unhealthy, producing conflicts between desires and biological realities?.. No says "science", it must be because those people face “stigma,” presumably from all those homophobes making them feel bad!.”
