Come out of her,

But in the last days it shall come to pass,
that the mountain of the house of the LORD
shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and it shall be exalted above the hills;
and people shall flow unto it.
And many nations shall come, and say,
Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
and to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths:
for the law shall go forth of Zion,

IN the NEWS - Monster Solar Flare

"The sun fired off a major solar flare late Monday (Feb. 24), making it the most powerful sun eruption of the year so far and one of the strongest in recent years.
Sunspot AR1990 (previously named AR1967) is located on the southeastern limb of the sun, pointed away from Earth. This is the third time this sunspot has rotated onto the Earth-facing side of the sun.
X-class solar flares are the most powerful kinds of solar storms. If directed at Earth, last night's solar flare could have caused a serious geomagnetic storm, created when charged particles slam into the planet's magnetic field.

"Radio emissions from shock waves at the leading edge of the CME suggest an expansion velocity near 4.4 million mph," Phillips wrote. "If such a fast-moving cloud did strike Earth, the resulting geomagnetic storms could be severe."
The sun is currently in the active phase of its 11-year solar cycle, called Solar Cycle 24. While X-class storms are the most powerful, mid-level flares are named M-class events, which can supercharge Earth's northern lights. Weaker C-class events round out the top three most powerful types of solar storms." YahooNews

Will one of these "shock waves" hit earth full force in the near future? Who knows?.....Maybe..Maybe not

IN the NEWS - NFL goes gay on Arizona... WHY?

Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona caved and vetoed the Religious  Freedom bill (labeled by opponents and
their wordsmith media allies as an anti-gay bill). Some of the pressure brought to bear on Arizona was by the NFL which was threatening to pull the superbowl scheduled there in the future out of the state. WHY would the NFL get involved in this? WHY has the country become obsessed with pandering to the whims of the gay community, even at the expense of freedom of religion?
What is really happening here in America, is that the secular and nominal Christian left keeps poking Christians and spiritual Babylon in the eye. When they (spiritual Babylon) make it into political power, and are in the midst of natural disasters, one can see how this moral drift, and war on Christianity, could be used as a reference point for a rallying movement in attempting to appease an angry Father God when they justify the attempt to implement the mark of the beast.

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot;....Even thus shall it be

Papal Notes - Mini-Pope

"Daniele De Sanctis, 19 months, made a star turn Wednesday as he showed off this year's must-have
Carnival costume at the pope's general audience: white cassock and cape, white skullcap and even a miniature pectoral cross.
Daniele wailed as he was hoisted up to receive a papal kiss as Francis drove by. But he seemed perfectly happy romping through the closed-off sections of St. Peter's Square, with his papal outfit getting him VIP treatment from the Swiss Guards.
His mother, Paola Ciabattini, said one of Daniele's grandmothers had made the costume, inspired after the boy used a hand towel as a cape after washing his hands.
"It was a gesture of love toward the Holy Father," Ciabattini told The Associated Press. "We certainly didn't intend to make fun of him or the church in any way." HP

Creation Moment 2/28/2014 - Mars craters undercut evolutionary age

"Orbiters can count new craters forming on Mars, refining cratering rates.

This and other craters lead scientists to estimate that “impacts producing holes at least 3.9m (12.8ft) in diameter occur at a rate exceeding 200 per year across the planet.”
Let’s do a simple back-of-the-envelope calculation of cratering on Mars from the figure given: at least 200 new impacts per year 12 ft across or more.   That should yield 900 billion craters over the lifetime of Mars – close to a trillion.  Assuming a fraction of those would be large enough to loft debris to form secondary craters, and some of those could create orbiting bodies that would fall later, that total seems unreasonably high.  The same rate would produce over a million craters in just 6,000 years – plenty, but credible." RIP - Bill

A guy I worked with named Bill died last night in a car crash. He had told me when he hit the age of 40 he might become a pastor. One day at work he showed me his Bible he carried in his car.

Papal Notes - Papal Message to Protestants

"Pope Francis has sent a filmed message of Christian unity to a conference of Evangelical Christians.

The video begins with an introduction by Bishop Tony Palmer, a personal friend of Pope Francis, based in Texas who speaks about the tragedy in the way Christianity has becomes so divided over the years, and says:  "I have come to understand that diversity is divine; it's division that is diabolic."
Pope Francis then gives a brief introduction in which he explains that he doesn't speak much English but is going to speak "heartfully". He goes on to speak in Italian and the video has subtitles. 'We are brothers" he says.  "Let us come together like Joseph and his brothers'." IndependentCatholicNews

Everlasting Gospel Vs. the Little Horn

"The American Bible Society and Church Missions document lists the Seventh-day Adventist Church as the only universally distributed Protestant denomination in the world. The Catholic Church demands obedience to its system and claims Sunday as the mark of her authority, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church propagates obedience to God and Him only and upholds the Seventh day Sabbath as the sign of obedience to God, in accordance with the Scriptures." IN the NEWS - MegaChurch Pulpit: Another Fall

"The 78-year-old pastor of the world's largest Pentecostal church convicted of embezzling $12 million told his congregation on Sunday that through "this suffering" he had learned that "an individual shouldn't possess anything."
Cho was sentenced to three years in prison last week after he was convicted of directing officials to buy stocks from his son at four times the market price. The church subsequently lost U.S. $12 million, according to The Gospel Herald.
Cho was also convicted of tax evasion.
The pastor, who founded his church in 1958, now must pay back $4.6 million. Cho's son, Hee-jun, the former CEO of the media company Kookmin Ilbo, was also sentenced to three years in prison for participating in his father's embezzlement scheme.
Cho's contrition comes several months after former elder, Ha Sang-ok, said in November that he had attempted unsuccessfully to convince the pastor to end his unethical ways.
In the past, the Yoido Full Gospel Church has been criticized by some for what they allege are prosperity gospel messages. According to Kingsway Global Ministries, Cho has taught, "We must rethink our misguided thoughts considering material wealth as being equated with sin. We must drive out our subconsciously rooted thoughts of poverty, condemnation and despair. God acts in concordance with our conscience; If our thoughts are filled with poverty and despair, God cannot bless us with material blessing."
A biography of Cho on the English version of the Yoido Full Gospel Church website says that the pastor, who came to faith after attending a crusade led by American missionary Ken Tines, met Jesus in a vision one night while he was fasting and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Approximately one million people claim membership at the South Korea church, which is affiliated with the Assemblies of God denomination. The AG is the world's largest Pentecostal denomination and boasts 66 million members." CP

Bringing back that FRUIT of the PROMISED LAND

These are the names of the men that Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua......And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff;

And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, .....and shewed them the fruit of the land.
Numbers 13:16,23,26

And what are the fruits of the "PROMISED LAND" in heaven above?
But the fruit of the Spirit is
love,
joy,
peace,
longsuffering,
gentleness,
goodness,
faith,
Meekness,
temperance:
Galatians 5:22,23
For the fruit of the Spirit is in all
 goodness and
 righteousness and
truth;
Ephesians 5:9
But the wisdom that is from above is first
pure, then
peaceable,
gentle, and
easy to be intreated,
full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

SDA Issues - Root of Ryan Bell's Shipwreck of Faith

Below is from Ryan Bell's blog "Year Without God". (Pastor Bell was fired from the SDA Church for a
multitude of reasons. He has since decided to live a year as an atheist and hence his "blog" for the year with updates on what he is doing & thinking).
The following from his own keyboard will illuminate the ROOTS of Mr. Bell's shipwreck....
"When I accepted that people in ancient times, including the Apostle Paul, had very different ideas about sexuality and that I don’t need to agree with those ideas, I felt liberated from needing to make my ethical norms about sexual difference somehow match up with the Bible. I realized that I didn’t agree with Paul." RyanBell-YearWithoutGodBlog

1) Paul's ideas are the same as God's ideas as presented way back in the OT. It has nothing to do with cultural relativism.
2) He felt "LIBERATED' by not having to have his worldview match up to the Bible's worldview. THERE IS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. His heart seems to want to have it's own way.
3) He feels he doesn't need to agree with Paul as a pastor. Well that could be one reason he shouldn't be a pastor.

Hold fast to the TRUTH of SCRIPTURE so U don't end up making a shipwreck of your faith as Mr. Bell has done.
But that on the good ground are they,
which in an honest and good heart,

Creation Moment 2/26/2014 - Neptune at 36

Neptune orbits the sun every 164.8 years.....so that means that over the last 6,000 that Neptune has made its orbit only 36 times....That means if Neptune's age was to be measured in the same way we measure our age on this planet (a "year" for every time we orbit the sun) then by Neptune's standards it is only 36 years old...Interesting...

Ghost of the Deceased Roman Empire

Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), who believed that "all legitimate political power must be "representative" and based on the consent of the people", stated also that "The Papacy is no other than the ghost of the deceased Roman Empire, sitting crowned upon the grave thereof".
And out of one of them came forth a little horn,
which waxed exceeding great,

And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

"Reverend" Susan Russell wrote---
"The Episcopal Church express its unequivocal opposition to any legislative, executive or judicial action on the part of local, state or national governments that abridges the right of a woman to reach an informed decision about the termination of pregnancy or that would limit the access of a woman to safe means of acting on her decision."

That's the "religion I represent" -- one that acknowledges there is tension between the sacredness of life we affirm and the freedom of choice we support. And the parish I represent -- All Saints Church in Pasadena -- is one that has been officially "prayerfully pro-choice" since 1989. HP
And who is Mz. Russell? Rev. Susan Russell is an Episcopal priest and activist from Pasadena CA. A past-president of Integrity USA – the 30-year old national Episcopal gay caucus -- she is a founding member of the Human Rights Campaign’s Religion Council, a member of Planned Parenthood's National Clergy Advisory Board.

Creation Moment 2/25/2014 - That "Very Central Question"

"The discovery suggests that the very first generation of stars may not have been as powerful as previously thought. As the Big Bang’s name suggests, the universe burst into formation from an immense explosion, creating a vast soup of particles."
 1) Uhm.... "may not" means you were wrong...again....
2) That bursting forth of the universe was the moment when GOD spoke it into existence. So you are picking up bits 'n pieces of that moment but can't quite figure that out so you make up the "big bang" theory.

"One very central question for all of us is, ’How did the first stars and galaxies get started?’" says co-author Anna Frebel, an
assistant professor of physics and a member of MIT’s Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. "This star had a lower-than-expected explosion energy, and also lower than today’s regular supernovae, which was really an unexpected finding. That tells us that, to some extent, we have to go back to the drawing board,..." MyScience.com

3) Here's your answer to that "very central question"....

IN the NEWS - Hannity was Right

"Radio and TV host Sean Hannity defended the presence of Bibles in nightstands at Iowa State University’s Hotel Memorial Union during a heated on-air clash with atheist leader Annie Laurie Gaylor Wednesday night.
While Gaylor claimed that the Bibles, which the hotel will officially remove from rooms by March 1, constitute a government endorsement of Christianity, Hannity pushed pack, saying people have the option to simply ignore their presence.
Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a church-state separatist group that sought the removal of the Bibles, said a public institution has no place having Bibles in its hotel rooms.

Hannity compared the Bible’s presence to television channels at the hotel that Gaylor also might not enjoy, quipping, for instance, that she probably doesn’t like watching his own TV show and likely simply avoids it.
During the exchange, Hannity accused Gaylor and the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s of having a financial motivation for their fight.
“I don’t believe for a second you’re offended. I’m sure your organization will raise money off of this and you’ll send out letters saying, ‘We took on Iowa University,’” Hannity said, later adding, “You get off on insulting peoples’ deeply held religious views.”
David French, senior counsel at the conservative American Center for Law and Justice, told TheBlaze that while Gaylor and her group argue the Bibles posed a constitutional violation, this isn’t necessarily the case.
“Assuming the university wasn’t rejecting including other offered religious texts in the nightstands, there’s no constitutional problem,” French said. “The ‘problem’ here is the classic problem of the offended atheist who is dissatisfied with the choice of not looking at the Bible and takes steps to make sure that no one will look at it.”" TheBlaze

Creation Moment 2/24/2014 - Delaware Museum of Natural History

"The Delaware Museum of Natural History in the USA has a new exhibit on evolution, and it aims to convince children that evolutionary ideas are true. The museum’s exhibit called “Charlie & Kiwi’s Evolutionary Adventure” assumes that dinosaurs evolved into birds and confuses observable genetic variation in birds with molecules-to-man evolution.

Now, I made the point in my recent debate with Bill Nye “the Science Guy”
that there are two kinds of science:

(1) experimental or observational science, which can be repeatedly tested and directly observed; and (2) historical or origins science, which deals with the past and cannot be tested or observed directly.

The Delaware Museum seems to make the same mistake Mr. Nye and many other evolutionists do: they confuse observational science with historical science.
For example, the promotional website for the Charlie & Kiwi exhibit says that children will “find similarities in the skeletons of an Archaeopteryx . . . a dinosaur . . . and a modern-day crow.” They’ll also “change a dinosaur into a flying Archaeopteryx through an interactive game.” Of course, all of this is based on the assumption that dinosaurs evolved into birds—which is completely unproven ..."KenHam/AIG

Camel bones suggest error in Bible, archaeologists say Topix

"In the Old Testament, camels made for a very useful literary device. Primarily, they represent great wealth; Though these animals play a central role in Genesis, new evidence has called into question their existence in Israel during the lifespans of Abraham and his immediate descendents (believed to be between 2000-1500 BC), and with it, the authorship of the bible.
Professors Erez Ben-Yosef and Lidar Sapir-Hen, archaeologists from Tel Aviv University in Israel, recently published a study after radiocarbon dating camel bones uncovered during excavations in the Aravah Valley -- an area on the border of Israel and the Arabian Peninsula, and one of the most logical spots where camels would have first been introduced into the country. Excavations uncovered the oldest camel bones yet found in Israel, and these dated no earlier than 940 BC -- at least 500 years later than when they are described in the bible.
"This is a very good example that the stories were written at a much later time than they supposedly took place. The editor of these stories knew the camel was a draft animal used in his time for traveling across the desert, so of course Abraham, Jacob and David used camels. We call it an anachronism; he projected the reality that he knew at his own time," says Ben-Yosef." CNN

RESPONSE:
"Can a data point at one site justify a sweeping generalization about a region for centuries?  That’s essentially what two archaeologists from Tel-Aviv University did to conclude that the Bible’s mention of camels as far back as the time of Abraham is wrong.  Erez Ben-Yosef and Lidar Sapir-Hen based their conclusions on radiocarbon dates of camel bones from copper mines in the Aravah Valley, between the Dead Sea and Eilat.  Since the bones appear suddenly at 930–900 BC, they conclude camels were not domesticated till then.  All it means, though, is that camels were not associated with copper production at that spot till that time (unless older camel bones are found elsewhere at the site some day in the future).  It says nothing about the use of camels elsewhere in the Levant for other purposes.  It’s basically a piece of negative evidence (i.e., blowing smoke with camels)." SDA Issues - The Record Keeper Controversy

From AdVindicate......
"Many think "The Record Keeper" is great witnessing tool, a conversation starter and a means to get unbelievers interested in our message. This is an understandable position,....but I am not intending to criticize the production itself as much as I am trying to explain why the principle behind it is misguided. These are my concerns.

1. Imaginative retelling

The whole premise behind the great controversy story is outlined in scripture. Sure, it is fun and exciting to recreate the events we know are true, but the basis of creating such a project should be from inspiration. Films are too often loaded with artistic license from the story-teller to add to the dramatic effect and can become distracting in the least, and at worst, totally misconstruing facts. If it is truth we are dealing with here, it is probably better to err on the side of caution as even the slightest doctrinal error can lead to drastic theological disasters.
This is why the scriptures teach the principle of keeping leaven from the bread. This was a spiritual metaphor to show us that the leavening of worldly human interpolation can damage the propagation of spiritual truth.

2. Disregard for inspired counsel

One of our Fundamental Beliefs includes our belief in the gift of prophecy, which we believe was expressed in the ministry of Ellen White. While certainly not a given for everyone who calls themselves an Adventist, one would certainly be outside the confines of reality to deny that her prophetic gift has not influenced the church in a large way. Believe in her or not, White is an integral part of the church. I believe she was inspired by God, and I know many who support this project do as well, since, after all, she wrote the book which inspired the series. But if we were to believe she was inspired when she penned The Great Controversy why on earth would it be logical to think she was not inspired when she wrote:
I have a message for those in charge of our work. Do not encourage the men who are to engage in this work to think that they must proclaim the solemn, sacred message in a theatrical style. Not one jot or tittle of anything theatrical is to be brought into our work. God’s cause is to have a sacred, heavenly mold. Let everything connected with the giving of the message for this time bear the divine impress. Let nothing of a theatrical nature be permitted, for this would spoil the sacredness of the work.  I am instructed that we shall meet with all kinds of experiences and that men will try to bring strange performances into the work of God. We have met such things in many places. In my very first labors, the message was given that all theatrical performances in connection with the preaching of present truth were to be discouraged and forbidden. Men who thought they had a wonderful work to do sought to adopt a strange deportment and manifested oddities in bodily exercise. The light given me was, ‘Give this no sanction.’ These performances, which savored of the theatrical, were to have no place in the proclamation of the solemn messages entrusted to us.  The enemy will watch closely, and will take every advantage of circumstances to degrade the truth by the introduction of undignified demonstrations. None of these demonstrations are to be encouraged. The precious truths given us are to be spoken in all solemnity and with sacred awe. 19MR 125
Perhaps she was caught up in her own time, as some would suggest. But the message of this passage bears no chronological or cultural limitation; it is a principle that holds true even today.

3. The effects

I was bothered by the classification of the project as a Sci-Fi series. Perhaps “The Record Keeper” may attract a following similar to Star Wars or the Trekkies of Gene Rodenberry’s Sci-Fi series. Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but let’s say that it did. Would it really bring people into the knowledge of the truth? How can a science fiction visual leave an impression on the mind of the viewer some spiritual truth?

4. Effective use of God’s money

We could debate all day regarding the virtues of having spent the money a different way but the fact remains that this project should have been brought to a larger committee of church representatives from all persuasions and perspectives before it was initiated. The balancing effect would result in the best way of funneling our funds where it would make the most impact on evangelism.
We could add to this list, but the bottom-line is, for Adventism to make an impact on the world, it should not be like the world." AdVindicate

Creation Moment 2/23/2014 - The "eyes" have it

"Reading, an essential skill for successful function in today’s society, is a complex psychological process involving vision, memory, and language comprehension. Variability in fixation durations during reading reflects the ease of text comprehension, and increased word frequency results in reduced fixation times. Critically,
readers not only process the fixated foveal word but also preprocess the parafoveal word to its right, thereby facilitating subsequent foveal processing. Typically, text is presented binocularly, and the oculomotor control system precisely coordinates the two frontally positioned eyes online. Binocular, compared to monocular, visual processing typically leads to superior performance, termed the “binocular advantage”; few studies have investigated the binocular advantage in reading. We used saccade-contingent display change methodology to demonstrate the benefit of binocular relative to monocular text presentation for both parafoveal and foveal lexical processing during reading. Our results demonstrate that denial of a unified visual signal derived from binocular inputs provides a cost to the efficiency of reading, particularly in relation to high-frequency words. Our findings fit neatly with current computational models of eye movement control during reading, wherein successful word identification is a primary determinant of saccade initiation."
