Papal Notes - Push for Unity with Lutherans

"Pope Francis to Lutheran World Federation: Praying has helped us abandon old prejudices

Pope Francis met with a delegation from the Lutheran World Federation, which represents 72 million Christians.

The organization's president is Nigerian Archbishop Musa Panti Filibus.
“We are grateful to God for the witness of the Church in Nigeria that continues to grow spiritually and keep the light of Christ.”

Pope Francis told them prayer is the fuel needed to arrive to unity within the Church because it helps overcome the prejudice of the past.

POPE FRANCIS
“This is the point from which to begin and restart. That has allowed us to abandon old prejudices

like those against Martin Luther and the Catholic Church's situation in that time.”
The pope said the path toward full unity now must overcome another temptation – that of ceasing to advance in dialogue.
He said standing still is a synonym for regressing." CatholicHerald
