To be an atheist, one has to believe the following:
1-Millions of years of earth history has passed
2-Biological Macro-Evolution
3-God's Word cannot be trusted as written
Since atheists have to have some way of explaining life coming into existence without God, then obviously the slow process of billions of years is required.
ONCE a "Christian" adopts millions of years for the earth -- they have already fulfilled points #1 & 3 of atheism.
Hence, the next step is logical--the acceptance of biological macro-evolution.
