And now for a little while grace has been shown from the LORD our God,
to leave us a remnant to escape,
and to give us a peg in His holy place,
that our God may enlighten our eyes
and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.
Ezra 9:8 NKJV
1) Historical Remnant
Made up of survivors of a catastrophe such as surviving the Babylonian conquest.
2) Faithful Remnant
These are those who are the carriers of the divine election promises of God. Such as the children of Abraham.
3) Eschatological Remnant
Those who will go through the end time woes of the apocalypse.
These bear 2 characteristics:
a) Keep the Commandments of God
b) Have the Testimony of Jesus
Noah was an example of all 3 types: He was a historical survivor of the global flood catastrophe, he was a faithful carrier of the promises of God for His day & he was a survivor of the first apocalypse of the earth.
