Dunce?

The humanists of the pre-Reformation era thought it foolish to ask such questions (as theologians did at that time) as to how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? These were irrelevant things to debate in seminary. The theologian most known for that thinking was Duns Scotus--and hence the name "Dunce" was born to refer to someone who pondered irrelevant questions in the field of theology. Don't be a dunce......
