The 3 Bulwarks

The 3 bulwarks established by the early "Church fathers" of Christianity to protect it from heresy were 1) The canon of Scripture 2) Creeds 3) The episcopate.

The Canon of Scripture, guided by the hand of the Creator, in order to communicate with His creation, is the only one to count on.
As for creeds, some may be OK, but that's about as far as one should go with those man-made writings.
And when it comes to the episcopate-they are only frail humans.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
