Emergent Church Labyrinth---WHY?

Candle Labyrinth of an Emergent Church meeting
Why does the Emergent Church movement insist on walking the labyrinth used in ancient paganism? The labyrith comes from ancient Greek mythology. A man built a labyrinth as a maze. He used a string called a "clew" to find his way back out. (Clew is where our word Clue comes from-to help find our way out of a perdicament). The first record of this pagan practice entering Christianity seems to be around 1000 AD when some French Catholic clerics used a labyrinth for an Easter service of some kind.
You don't need any gimmics or paganistic rituals to worship God or any silly meditation techniques.
