The "un-churching"- then & in the end

"Jesus said to the Jews the last time He walked out from the temple: “Your house is left unto you desolate” (Matthew 23:38).

The last high priest was called Caiaphas, although he lacked the
true qualifications of the position. He may have worn the priestly garments, but he had no vital connection with God. He was not circumcised in heart.

Notice how the chief priest responded at the trial.
John 19:15 says, “They cried out, ‘Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘Shall I crucify your King?’ The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but Caesar!’”

God had been their King.
They had been ruled by a theocracy.
Theos is the Greek word for God.
A theocracy is a government that is ruled, controlled, or directed by God.

But now the priests claimed to have no king except Caesar.
When they said that, they un-churched themselves.
Q: Will people do that again?
A: Ellen White, writing about this said, “It is righteousness that exalts a nation. A disregard for the law of God will be the ruin of the religious world in the last days of this earth’s history.” Manuscript Releases, vol. 12, 388."
