"The San Antonio Archdiocese announced it has removed a local priest and has prohibited him from exercising any duties following sexual abuse allegations dating back more than 30 years.
Father Edward Pavlicek was named in a statement released by the Archdiocese on Friday.
After notification, the Archdiocese told the Bexar County District Attorney's special crimes division the next day, and opened its own preliminary investigation into the matter. Pavlicek was removed from ministry during the investigation, which was completed Thursday.
The investigation led the Archdiocesan Review Board to say there is enough evidence to send the matter to the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican for possible laicization."
