Gospel Gem: Peace Be Still

Synergy of Matthew 8:23-27/Mark 4:35-41/Luke 8:22-25

And when they had sent away the multitude,
they took him even as he was in the ship.
And there were also with him other little ships.
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
and he said unto them,
Let us go over unto the other side of the lake.
And they launched forth.
But as they sailed he fell asleep:
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea,
insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves:
and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow:
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him,
saying,
Lord, save us: we perish.
And he saith unto them,
Why are ye fearful,
O ye of little faith?
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another,
What manner of man is this,
that even the wind and the sea obey him?

The Psalmist Adds- The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: Psalm 93:1
"How often the disciples' experience is ours! When the tempests of temptation gather, and the fierce lightnings flash, and the waves sweep over us, we battle with the storm alone, forgetting that there is One who can help us."
