SDA News - ADRA in Vanuatu

"The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is part
of a large coordinated response to help people from the pacific island nation of Vanuatu recover from being displaced by volcanic activity on the country’s Ambae Island last month.
Although the volcanic eruption did not take place, the entire population of Ambae was evacuated. In addition, the volcanic activity which did take place destroyed livestock and crop."/////
So What happened on Vanuatu?
"A FLOTILLA of ships have been sent to evacuate residents on the Vanuatu island of Ambae after a volcano erupted. The 11,000 residents are being evacuated to neighbouring islands after the Manaro Voui volcano was seen spewing out “lava bombs”.
The island’s water sources have been contaminated with lava flows raising concerns about the health of those still on the island.
Vulcanologist Brad Scott told Radio NZ: “Maybe about every eight to 10 seconds there was an explosion, throwing lava bombs up maybe 50 to 100 meters above the crater and there’s also two small lava flows that are flowing across the island into the lake as well.”
