SDA History: E.G.W. & the Rocking Chair

"A few years ago I listened to an audio file of a sermon by M.L. Andreasen, recorded in late 50s I think, in which he told a story that Ellen White had shared with him:

When she was a young girl, Methodist elders came knocking at her family’s door to make a visit out of concern for them because the Harmons had purchased a rocking chair. They explained that a rocking chair was worldly, not appropriate for Christians. They allowed the elders to remove the runners on the chair immediately. After it was changed into a proper 4-legged chair, the elders were satisfied with the success of their mission and left. Ellen White shared this story with the young Andreasen and chuckled as she told it." Barry Kimbrough

And he took ten men of the elders of the city,
and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
