Papal Notes - Chicago Sun Times

"A startling headline from the Chicago Sun Times reads, “If Trump won’t lead, there’s always Pope Francis.”

The newspaper is by no means a religious paper and is not coming from the prophetic
standpoint of Revelation 13 and the reemergence to world dominance of the Roman Catholic Church, to the repudiation of every principle of the constitution.  The author of the piece, Neil Steinberg, uplifts Pope Francis for his interest and contributions to science, especially his leadership on taking action against climate change, while disparagingly criticizing Donald Trump and the congresspersons that deny or question the validity of climate change. The issue of climate change along with other issues viewed as societal threats, will be prominently used to impose a National Sunday Law; and while there may be some who deny climate change, viewing it as a hoax, the increase and intensification of calamities along with extreme weather will be attributed to individuals “offending” God by desecrating God’s laws, particularly the violation of the Sabbath, which Catholics and the majority of Protestants acknowledge as Sunday, which is not biblical but is a creation of the Roman Catholic Church and is a violation of God’s true Sabbath, the seventh day of the week.

It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced; and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity.” The Great Controversy (1911), page 590 E.G.W.

Speaking of the formation of the image to the beast that America makes to Roman Catholicism, Ellen White in The Great Controversy writes, “‘Saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they
should make an image to the beast.’ Here is clearly presented a form of government in which the legislative power rests with the people, a most striking evidence that the United States is the nation denoted in the prophecy."
