1) In the Sanctuary:

They each gave themselves a role to play in the Plan of Redemption-
* The Son - Outer Court/JUSTIFICATION
* The Spirit - Inner Court/SANCTIFICATION
* The Father - Most Holy Place/JUDGMENT....and the Ancient of days did sit,....A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: ... the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

2) The "Wedding" Scenario:
Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Revelation 19:9
They each play a role in the "Wedding"-
* The Father - Performs the ceremony of the Marriage
* The Son - The Bridegroom (His people, the Bride)
* The Spirit - Sort of like the best man, inviting people to the Wedding....And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. Revelation 22:17
