Puritan Corner - Faithful Minister

A faithful minister must see before he say.
by EDWARD MARBURY (1581-1655)
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Psalm 63:6

ARCHAEOLOGY: Toilet proves Bible

"Archaeologists have proved that passages of the Bible about the
triumph of Judaism over the pagan Ba'al worship are literally true.
Referring to the fight against paganism in the biblical city of Lachish, 2 Kings 10 says: "Then they demolished the pillar of Ba'al, and destroyed the temple of Ba'al, and made it a latrine to this day."
Excavations in Israel have for the first time discovered an actual physical toilet of the kind referred to in this passage.
The stone latrine was deliberately inserted into a Ba'al shrine to render it unclean, and therefore unusable as a shrine any more.
The archaeologists found the remains of the stone altar to Ba'al, and the holes left in the altar when the horns of the deity were removed and the altar smashed – exactly as described in the Bible.
After the toilet was placed in the shrine, it was sealed and finally the gate was destroyed by Sennacherib, king of Assyria, in 701 BC as described in II Kings 18 and II Chronicles 32." CW

Digging Deep - "Fulfill"

It has been said that Christ, in fulfilling the moral law, actually abolished the Ten Commandments. However, let's take a look at what Jesus actually says in Matthew 5:17–19:
  1. "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets" (v. 17). Jesus certainly did not do the very thing that He came not to do!

  2. "I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." According to Webster's Dictionary, "fulfill," when
applied to a law, means "to answer its demands by obedience." It here means the opposite of "destroy," as in the following scriptures: "And shall not uncircumcision, which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?" (
Romans 2:27) "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). "If ye fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well" (James 2:8).

Thus, those who make this argument would have Christ teach that He came not to destroy the law but to destroy the law. That doesn't make sense, does it?

  3. "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law" (Matthew 5:18). Heaven and earth still remain; thus, we can know from Jesus' own lips that the law was not and has not been abolished.

  4. "Till all is fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18). This passage was originally written in Greek. In the Greek language, words that go together must share certain qualities, such as gender or number. The word "all" is neuter in gender and plural in number. Therefore, it cannot refer directly to “law,” which is masculine in gender and singular in number. “All” refers to all things respecting heaven and earth that are spoken of in the prophets (Old Testament).

The term “fulfilled” in this verse comes from a different Greek word than the word “fulfilled” in the expression, "I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill" (verse 17). Here in verse 18, this word means “to come into existence, be created, exist by creation” (William Greenfield, A Greek-English Lexicon to the New Testament). This word “fulfilled” is translated as “made” in
John 1:3: "All things were made by him" (KJV). So, again, “fulfill” actually means the opposite of “destroy.”

  5. Now comes Christ's own conclusion: "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least [or, as George Campbell renders it, "shall be of no esteem"] in the kingdom of heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:19). And to emphasize the poing that the law is not abolished, Christ proceeds to explain certain precepts of the law in question in their most spiritual and comprehensive sense.
This law could not cease when Christ came. Three interesting "tills" or "untils" in the New Testament provides convincing evidence of this truth:
  1. "The law and the prophets were until John" (Luke 16:16). At the time of John the Baptist, there was a change in the law and the prophets, when he began preaching the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God did not do away with the law and the prophets but added to them. Christ confirmed this in the next verse, making the law firmer than the very pillars of heaven and earth: "And it is easier," He said, "for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail" (verse 17).

  2. "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law."

  3. "Till all be fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18). That is, ; till all those things to be restored are brought into existence by a new creation. This brings us to the new-earth state, in which righteousness shall dwell (2 Peter 3:13; Psalm 119:172; Isaiah 51:6, 7), and the Sabbath shall continue while eternal ages roll (Isaiah 66:22, 23).
This objection suggests the false doctrine that Christ is the minister of sin. Rather, we believe the Scriptures teach that Christ came to conquer Satan and sin. But according to this objection, the great object of God in sending His Son is frustrated, and Satan and sin triumph at last, for Christ grants men full liberty to transgress all the commandments of God!

As we have seen, the argument that Christ abolished the law is refuted by the Savior’s own words in Matthew chapter 5, by Peter’s prophecy in 2 Peter 3, by the testimony of Old Testament writers in Psalm 119 and Isaiah 51, and by the fact that Christ cannot be the minister of sin."

Creation Moment 9/30/2016 - Creation in Zephaniah

"Zephaniah.
As observed above, Zephaniah 1:3 introduces a reversal of creation by listing the animals in a reversed order as they were originally mentioned in the creation account from Genesis 1. He
furthermore uses the familiar word-play in the original language between man and ground known from Genesis 2:7. The reversal of creation order, however, transmits a strong theological message: In Gen. ii . . . the pun is used to indicate man’s dependence on that from whence he came, whereas Zephaniah uses it to show man’s separation from his creator, Yahweh. A situation that involves a return to the age before creation can result only in man’s destruction. Zephaniah is depicting the progressive loss of dominion over creation by humanity and its resulting de-creation.
Aside from the obvious creation allusions, Zephaniah also refers to another event of the Urgeschichte, i.e., the Flood, by using the phrase “from the face of the earth” as an inclusion for the passage in Zephaniah 1:1-3 (cf. Gen. 6:7; 7:4; 8:8). Within the prophet’s message of judgment, the Flood serves as an example of present impending doom."

Sufferings Throughout World History

So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun:
and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter;
and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead
more than the living which are yet alive.
Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been,
who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 4:1-3

"Our world is a vast lazar house, a scene of misery that we dare not
allow even our thoughts to dwell upon. Did we realize it as it is, the burden would be too terrible. Yet God feels it all. In order to destroy sin and its results He gave His best Beloved, and He has put it in our power, through co-operation with Him, to bring this scene of misery to an end." Education p.264 E.G.W.

SDA News - Mighty Men Of God by Doug Batchelor

"Studies have shown that secular media and our culture at large have sought to portray fathers as the
family idiots. Sadly, respect for the role of fathers, husbands, and men in general has reached an all-time low. The result? Dispirited men who have abandoned their godly roles—and it’s not surprising that we’re experiencing a moral freefall in our country and in our communities.

That’s why, starting September 30, Pastor Doug Batchelor will present a new energizing, inspirational Christian revival program called Mighty Men of God. Loaded with biblical principles that make sense, this encouraging, inspiring, and life-changing three-part series will address how to be a loving father, a faithful husband, and an all-round man of God in the family, church, and nation in these challenging times—and how you can make an impact that will have eternal results.

How to Watch!Mighty men is being broadcast live from Granite Bay Church in Rocklin, Calif., beginning Friday, September 30, at 7:00pm PT. You can watch live on AFTV. We're also streaming live on www.AFTV.org, LiveStream.com, and the Amazing Facts ROKU channel." AmazingFacts

Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 4:7

"It’s a boy! A five-month-old boy is the first baby to be born using a new technique that incorporates DNA from three people, New Scientist can reveal. “This is great news and a huge deal,” says Dusko Ilic at King’s College London, who wasn’t involved in the work. “It’s revolutionary.”
The controversial technique, which allows parents with rare genetic mutations to have healthy babies, has only been legally approved in the UK. But the birth of the child, whose Jordanian parents were treated by a US-based team in Mexico, should fast-forward progress around the world, say embryologists.
In theory, there are a few ways of doing this. The method approved in the UK is called pronuclear transfer and involves fertilising both the mother’s egg and a donor egg with the father’s sperm. Before the fertilised eggs start dividing into early-stage embryos, each nucleus is removed. The nucleus from the donor’s fertilised egg is discarded and replaced by that from the mother’s fertilised egg." NewScientist

3 Schools

But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
Matthew 13:14
"1) The Preterist School which sees most of the prophecies being fulfilled in the past in the events surrounding the destruction of Jerusalem and the pagan Roman Empire; 2) The Futurist School which sees most of the prophecies in Revelation – from chapter 4 onward – as applying to events yet future; and 3) The Historicist School which sees the book of Revelation as largely predictive of actual events to occur throughout the history of Christianity from
the time of John until the return of Jesus Christ.

The Historicist School contained the viewpoint of almost all Protestant Reformers from the Reformation into the 19th century. Elliot also shows clearly through historical research that both the Preterist and Futurist schools were definitely put forth by Jesuit scholars in their earnest attempts to divert the unanimous Protestant application of Daniel’s “little horn” prophecy and Revelation’s “beast” prediction to the rise and work of Papal Rome." IN the NEWS - I Wonder Why?

"A recent survey has revealed that nearly one in four millennials are religiously unaffiliated, and many of them say they left the church due to teachings on homosexuality.
The Christian Post reports that 25 percent of Americans are religiously unaffiliated, according to a survey conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute.
The survey found that religious affiliation has been declining noticeably since the 1990’s. The numbers of people who have left the church are greater the younger the demographic.
For example, only 13 percent of those aged over 65 say they are religiously unaffiliated, 17 percent aged 50 to 64 say the same, 29 percent in the 30 to 49 age group do not believe in religion, and a sizeable 39 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds say they are religiously unaffiliated.

The survey also explored the reasons for lack of religious affiliation. A major finding was that 39 percent of religiously unaffiliated millennials said the church’s teaching on gays and lesbians was a major factor in their decision to leave the church or to remain unaffiliated with it." CH

Creation Moment 9/28/2016 - Dawkins - that Weasel

"You may have heard of evolutionist Richard Dawkins's computer program designed to illustrate that evolution can accomplish amazing things. And you may have heard some good critiques of this program and of its later, more sophisticated cousins. I want to quickly summarize those critiques and
then describe another way Dawkins's argument fails, a failure mostly overlooked but highly significant.
Dawkins's program is well-known enough that it has its own Wikipedia entry and nickname: "the weasel program." The program "evolves" a string of gibberish letters into a line from Hamlet: "Methinks it is like a weasel."

Dawkins was inspired by the old saw that if you put some monkeys in front of a bunch of typewriters and have them bang away long enough, eventually one of them will reproduce a Shakespearian poem purely by chance. In truth, the odds of that happening are actually so long that whole galaxies would burn out before we got a Shakespearian sonnet out of one of those poor creatures. And to Dawkins's credit, he understands this.
Dawkins uses his computer simulation not to argue for the powers of brute chance but to show that evolution can do the job far more quickly because evolution isn't purely random in the way a monkey banging away on a typewriter is. It is guided by natural selection.
However, if you have read critiques of the weasel program, you know Dawkins's evolution simulation still has a couple of major limitations to it.

The Two Most Obvious Problems

First, on its evolutionary journey from gibberish to the line from Shakespeare, the program passes through and builds from utterly dysfunctional intermediates. That's a problem because the Darwinian process of natural selection tends to eliminate dysfunctional offspring.

Second, the computer simulation has been programmed to aim for a particular distant goal -- the weasel line from Hamlet. That's a problem because Darwinian evolution doesn't work toward particular distant goals. It isn't mindful but mindless, not seeing but blind.

But Dawkins waves off these shortcoming by saying the little program is merely for illustrative purposes and suggesting that more sophisticated programs will be designed soon enough that properly mimic natural selection while still illustrating how wonderfully productive the evolutionary process can be.
Three decades later, we're still waiting." EN&V

Papal Notes - Catholic / Shiite "Alliance"?

...and all the world wondered after the beast.
Revelation 13:3
"When Pope Francis makes a brief stop in the small Caucasus nation of Azerbaijan on Sunday, he has a chance not simply to
improve Catholic/Muslim relations generally but to exploit the possibility of a natural alliance with Shiite Muslims, the second largest branch of Islam.
In the other countries with a majority Muslim population Francis has visited so far - including Palestine, Jordan, Albania, Turkey, and Bosnia-Herzegovina - the Islamic community is dominated by Sunnis, and Shiites are either a distinct minority or practically non-existent.
In other words, the Azerbaijan stop is not simply about Catholic/Muslim relations, but more specifically about ties between Catholicism and Islam’s second largest branch, representing somewhere between 10 and 15 percent of the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims.
While Shiites are a clear minority in terms of Islam overall, they loom large in the all-important Persian Gulf region, and in Iran, they also dominate arguably one of the two or three most powerful and consequential Islamic nations in the world.
It will be fascinating to see if Pope Francis is able to move the ball on what many observers have long regarded as the potential for a natural Catholic/Shiite alliance."

Lesson of the Fallen Trees

Howl, fir tree, for the cedar is fallen.
  Zechariah 11:2
"When in the forest there is heard the crash of a falling oak,
it is a sign that the woodman is abroad,
and every tree in the whole company may tremble
lest to-morrow the sharp edge of the axe should find it out.

We are all like trees marked for the axe,
and the fall of one should remind us that for every one,
whether great as the cedar, or humble as the fir,
the appointed hour is stealing on apace.

I trust we do not, by often hearing of death, become callous to it.
May we never be like the birds in the steeple,
which build their nests when the bells are tolling,
and sleep quietly when the solemn funeral peals are startling the air.

May we regard death
as the most weighty of all events,
and be sobered by its approach.

It ill behooves us to sport while our eternal destiny hangs on a thread."

Who Can Fulfill THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT?

"The Sermon on the Mount is not some unattainable goal; it is a statement of what will happen in me when Jesus Christ has changed my nature by putting His own nature in me. Jesus Christ is the only One who can fulfill the Sermon on the Mount."

Blessed are the poor in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn:

Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Creation Moment 9/27/2016 - Polyphyly

"Polyphyly.
Polyphyly means having separate ancestries.
The claim of polyphyly is that living organisms have descended from numerous ancestors of independent origins. The opposite view is monophyly, which is the claim that all organisms have descended from the same original ancestor.
There are two lines of evidence for polyphyly.

First and foremost is the evidence from selection experiments. Scientists have raised, manipulated, and tested thousands of generations of bacteria, and hundreds of generations of fruit flies, mice, and other species. Results show that existing anatomical structures may vary considerably, but new structures do not form. Claims by evolutionary scientists that long periods of time are
sufficient to generate new body types are merely claims and cannot serve as evidence. The actual evidence in hand indicates limits to change and implies numerous lineages with separate ancestries.
A second line of evidence comes from the pattern of

morphological gaps in the fossil record. ....the morphological gap between a horse and a grasshopper is enormous, and the number of intermediate evolutionary steps should be extremely large."

IN the NEWS - Global GREEN Goose Stepping

How easy it would be for the implementation of the mark of the beast (counterfeit Sabbath) - if it were tinged GREEN...think about it...

"This week the UN General Assembly convenes in New York City to discuss challenges facing the
global community—chief among them, climate change and global warming. In his opening address on Tuesday, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon ...calling climate changethe defining challenge of our time.” Talk of climate change is “heating up,”...

When asked whether humans caused climate change and / or global warming, seven in 10 adults say either yes, absolutely (42%), or
yes, possibly (29%). Skeptics make up around one-fifth of all Americans, answering either no, probably not (10%), or no, definitely not (11%). Another one in 11 are not sure (9%).

Talk of caring for God’s creation first appeared on the agenda of the National Association of Evangelicals in 1970, and establishment of the Evangelical Environmental Network in the 1990s continued a shift in evangelical consciousness toward creation care. The group also organized the Evangelical Climate Initiative, which in 2006 released a statement signed by a number of influential evangelical leaders that makes a moral argument for climate action." Creation Moment 9/26/2016 - Genesis 2 Advanced Medical Science

"This is a true story of how the Bible helped advance science and
alleviate needless suffering. It’s the story of the man who instigated the use of chloroform in surgery – the surgeon and obstetrician, Dr. James Simpson.....
So one way or another, Simpson had found that chloroform (CHCl3), which had been reported by a French chemist in 1831, was effective and reliable. He experimented with it as a general anesthetic for childbirth, and published a paper on it in 1847: Account of a New Anaesthetic Agent.  Its use thereafter expanded rapidly in Europe – especially after Queen Victoria bore Prince Leopold with its use in 1853.
Yet some doctors did not jump at the opportunity to use anesthesia, ...Some argued that pain served a medical purpose. A few doctors, for some strange reason, voiced religious objections to the use of anesthetics. They argued it was against nature or against the will of God. Here’s where Simpson found an argument from Scripture. He turned to Genesis 2, where God put Adam to sleep while performing surgery on him to create Eve from his side. If God could use a kind of anesthesia before the fall of man, why could not we use such a technique today?
Tiner explains, “Simpson believed the principle that God did not rejoice in needless pain still applied.”
This was not an isolated application of Scripture for Simpson. Tiner goes on to explain that Simpson was an avid Christian, a Bible scholar, and soul-winner. He even wrote a tract explaining the gospel of Jesus Christ to non-Christians.
Chloroform was a major advance in surgery. Patients think nothing of going into an Adamic sleep while being cut open for operations that before would have caused screams of pain, only to awaken sewn up and unaware of the trauma. Anesthesia has undergone many advances since 1847. Chloroform can be toxic in high doses and must be used with care, but it is still used in primitive situations.
In Men of Science, Men of God (1988, p. 52), Henry M. Morris wrote that Simpson could have boasted about his discovery of chloroform, but exclaimed that his greatest discovery was, “That I have a Savior!” Morris quoted the end of that gospel tract Simpson wrote.  It said:
But again I looked and saw Jesus, my substitute, scourged in my stead and dying on the cross for me. I looked and cried and was forgiven. And it seems to be my duty to tell you of that Savior, to see if you will not also look and live. ‘He was wounded for our transgressions, … and with His stripes we are healed’ (Isaiah 53:5)" CEH

Health Note - An Apple A Day

Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest......be in health,
3 John 1:2
The adage of “an apple a day keeping the doctor away” is more accurate than you’d think, since the daily dose of an apple deemed healthy for the heart is approximately one per day.

Digestion: Apples, being rich in fiber, help in the digestive process. Regular consumption of apples ensures smooth bowel movements and helps in preventing constipation and various stomach disorders.

Cancer Prevention: The role of apples in cancer prevention has been a subject of study for some
time, and while they have shown moderate improvement in various types of cancer, particularly breast and colon cancer, the most significant discoveries have been regarding lung cancer.

Weakness: Apples are known to remove weakness and add vigor and vitality to weak people. It is, therefore, often given to patients to help them recover quickly from their illnesses.

Managing Diabetes: Blood sugar control is essential for people who suffer from diabetes, and the polyphenols in apples have been directly linked to reducing the uptake of carbohydrates by the body. This, in turn, reduces the fluctuation of blood sugar levels that occur in the bloodstream, an important factor for helping to keep diabetes in check.

Dental Care: Eating apples helps in cleaning both the teeth and gums. Furthermore, it reduces the incidence of cavities in the teeth. When you eat apples, the fiber in it cleanses the teeth, while the antibacterial properties of the fruit keep bacteria and viruses from infecting the body.

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease: As if the other impressive benefits of apples weren’t enough, they also show a positive impact on neurological issues, particularly two of the most tragic conditions, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The antioxidant effects of all the phytonutrient compounds in apples certainly help reduce Alzheimer’s disease, since the degeneration of the brain that leads to Alzheimer’s has been linked to free radical activity. Apples also increase the amount of acetylcholine in the brain, which is linked to concentration, problem-solving, and memory. In terms of Parkinson’s, apples stop the gradual breakdown of dopamine-producing nerve cells, which can be an underlying cause of Parkinson’s.

Heart Disease: Apples lower the level of cholesterol in the body, making it a strong defensive mechanism against cardiovascular disease. The antioxidant activity in apples reduces the oxidation of fats, called lipid peroxidation and includes neutralizing triglycerides and various fats found between blood vessels that can exert dangerous pressure.

Skin Care: Pastes made of apple and honey, and apple and milk increase the shine and glow of the skin when topically applied. This is again due to the powerful antioxidants contained in the skin and flesh of apples.

SDA Issues - Debunking 2520

There has been a FALSE PROPHECY going around some circles, the so-called 2520 year Prophecy. Some well meaning people have been misled into misinterpreting Leviticus 26.---The 2520 movement is one that you should avoid & shun.....

I. Millerites
"The Millerites did not have PowerPoint® presentations to illustrate their messages; they used a variety of charts instead. One of these was the 1843 chart published by Joshua V. Himes.
The 1843 chart has in the right-hand top corner a time prophecy of 2520 years, based on the “seven
times” in Leviticus 26:28, which the Millerites believed refers to the punishment of God’s people beginning in 677 B.C. and ending in 1843, when Jesus would come again and cleanse the earth with fire.
II. E.G.W.
Some Adventists today claim that the 2520-year prophecy was correct and still needs to be proclaimed. They find support for this view in a statement by Ellen G. White, where she says, “I have seen that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord, and that it should not be altered; that the figures were as He wanted them; that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His hand was removed.” One of the mistakes was, of course, the figure 1843, but what was wrong in other figures?
Ellen White’s confirmation of the 1843 chart refers to the 1260- and 2300-year prophecies, not to the figure of 2520, which she never used because it is not a time prophecy.
The King James Version of Leviticus 26:28 reads: “I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.” Misunderstanding the term “seven times,” they believed that the word time refers to a prophetic year, and by multiplying 360 x 7 they came to 2520 years. The KJV rendering can be misleading; the New American Bible, therefore, correctly translates “‘“I . . . will chastise you with sevenfold fiercer punishment for your sins.”’” The Hebrew text has only the word seven; there is no reference to a time period.
III. Debunking 2520
 1. The Hebrew only has the word seven; the word time does not appear in the text.
        2. The year-day principle is valid only in the apocalyptic books of Daniel and Revelation or in texts where it is specifically explained. Leviticus 26 is not an apocalyptic book. The year-day principle, therefore, cannot be used. There are only two texts in non-apocalyptic books where the year-day principle is used (Num. 14:34; Eze. 4:6), and both times God explains that a day stands for a year. In apocalyptic books this is not stated but assumed.
        3. The last judgment also threatens exile: “‘“I will scatter you among the nations”’” (Lev. 26:33). This was fulfilled in the northern kingdom Israel in 722 B.C. through the Assyrian exile and in the southern kingdom through the Babylonian exile from 605 B.C. on. This judgment, therefore, cannot be applied to the Christian era.
        4. The Millerites saw only the last “seven times” in verse 28 as a time prophecy. If they had used all four “seven times,” the time period would have extended to 10,080 years.

IV. James White
In 1864, James White published an article in The Review and Herald titled “The Seven Times of Lev. Xxvi.” In this article he asked the question, Is there any prophetic period brought to view at all in Lev. xxvi?” In response he says,We claim that there is not, and will offer a few of what are to us very conclusive reasons for this position.” He asks, “What is meant by this repeated expression of seven times? We reply, It denotes, not the duration of the punishment, but its intensity and severity. It is well expressed in the language of verse 21, thus: ‘I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.’ The number seven denoting perfection, we are undoubtedly to understand by this expression, the fullness of their punishment; that the measure of their national sins would in every case be fully equaled by the measure of their national calamities.”
He concludes that portion of the article by stating, “So then, there is no prophetic period in Lev.

xxvi; and those who imagine that such a thing exists, and are puzzling themselves over the adjustment of its several dates, are simply beating the air. To ignore, or treat with neglect, a prophetic period where one is plainly given, is censurable in the extreme. It is an equally futile, though not so heinous, a course, to endeavor to create one where none exists.”
V. Steve Wohlberg's Comments
1) When the 1863 chart came out with no 2520 on it, Mrs. White was silent. She never disapproved.
2) The new chart was primarily developed by James White who, in a January 26, 1864 Review article gave a long list of crystal clear biblical reasons (straight from Leviticus 26) why the 2520 theory is an illusion and thus should never be taught by Seventh-day Adventists. Ellen White didn’t protest this article either. She said not a word.
3) In 1T 689 and RH March 29, 1870, Ellen White also put her full prophetic weight behind the new 1863 chart and encouraged all Adventists to teach “the truth” therein.
4) Thus the official Seventh-day Adventist Church, organized in 1863, never accepted the 2520. Thus it isn't a Seventh-day Adventist doctrine, but rather a Millerite doctrine. Although led by God, William Miller and his Millerite preachers still had much to learn. They still didn’t understand the Sabbath, state of the dead, heavenly sanctuary, or health message.
5) In Early Writings, 243, after the disappointment, a holy angel said that William Miller and the Millerites still had “errors” they needed to be purified from. The 2520 theory was one of them.
6) In The Great Controversy, 351, Mrs. White wrote that “the longest and last prophetic period brought to view in the Bible” is the 2300 period, not the 2520. Do the math. 2520 is longer than 2300. If the 2520 existed, she couldn’t have written this.
...from what I have seen, if a person really believes the 2520 theory, almost nothing can change their mind."

Creation Moment 9/25/2016 - 120,000,000?

Thy hands have made me and fashioned me:
Psalm 119:73
"There are approximately 120 million rods and 6 million cones in each eye, with the cones being more concentrated toward the rear of the retina.
In the retina, the photo-receptor cells synapse (or connect) directly onto receptors, which in turn synapse onto ganglion cells of the outermost layer, which then conduct impulses to the brain.
Lying at the rear of the brain, the visual cortex is the largest system in the human brain and is responsible for processing the visual image. The human mind recognizes objects with highest contrast to their surroundings first." BMD

Spirit of Prophecy Sermon SERIES by Stephen Bohr

Spirit of Prophecy Sermon SERIES
(by Stephen Bohr)

And the dragon was wroth with the woman,
and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,
which keep the commandments of God,
and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
....for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Purpose: Inverse Relationship of the 1st & 2nd Advent

Purpose of 1st Advent: Save the World
...for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.....For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 12:47/3:16

Purpose of 2nd Advent: Render Judgment upon us
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;....And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.Acts 17:31/Revelation 22:12

Creation Moment 9/24/2016 - Creation in Nahum

"Nahum.
Creation in Nahum is connected to the “day of the Lord,” and the description of its characteristics is reminiscent of creation terminology: “He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, and the flower of Lebanon wilts. The mountains quake before Him, the hills melt, and the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it” (Nahum 1:4, 5).
Again there is a context of de-creation driven by cosmological
imagery. In the judgment theophany, the created order is impacted by its own Creator in a way that is reminiscent of the Ancient Near Eastern Chaoskampf motif whereas, there is a polemic reworking of the motif with Yahweh depicted as sovereign over all the common Ancient Near Eastern power symbols, such as the sea, the mountains, and earth."

Antichrist or Vicar of Christ?

..for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first,
and that man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition;
2 Thessalonians 2:3
Antichrist .... -OR- .... Vicar of Christ?

...from Late Latin antichristus, from Greek antikhristos [I John ii:18], from anti- "against" (see anti-) + khristos (see Christ).

....from Anglo-French vicare, Old French vicaire "deputy, second in command," also in the ecclesiastical sense (12c.), from Latin vicarius "a substitute, deputy, proxy," noun use of adjective vicarius "substituted, delegated," from vicis "change, interchange, succession; a place, position" (see vicarious). The original notion is of "earthly representative of God or Christ;"

Papal Notes - Enlisting Journalists?

"The pope asked journalists to prevent their work from
becoming "a weapon of destruction of people and nations.”

Spreading rumors is an example of "terrorism, of how you can kill a person with your tongue", he said. "This is even more true for journalists because their voice can reach everyone and this is a very powerful weapon."
Dario ViganĂ², the priest in charge of reforming communications in the Vatican, vouched for a more humane journalism." RomeReports

...and all the world wondered after the beast.

IN the NEWS - 6 Day Work Week Mandated in Kenyan County

"Machakos County [Kenya] Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua Ordered all County officials to a 6 day
work schedule. In a long post, he related the order to his government’s policy in delivering development projects to the people of residing in Machakos County.
I have today instructed that all senior Machakos Government officials starting with myself, ministers, chief officers, directors and their deputies and heads of department, should from next week work six days a week so as to effectively supervise and implement development projects.
This “Turbo Maendeleo Chap Chap” method will run up to end of December, 2016 where it will be reviewed and tweaked. All senior officers should spend a minimum of three days on the field supervising projects and listening to the needs of Wananchi. Ministers are to meet senior staff for a briefing meeting a minimum of once a week. Heads of departments will also hold meetings with junior staff a minimum of once a week to communicate the department’s agenda. Governor Mutua."

I was not in safety, neither had I rest,
neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
Job 3:26
P.S.--IF they mandate which 6 days to work, do you think
they will pick sunday or Sabbath as the one day off?
