GOSPEL GEM: Discerning the Time

---Synergy of Matthew 10:34-36/16:1-4/Luke12:49-56---

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came,
and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
He answered and said unto them,

When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather:
for the sky is red.
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day:
for the sky is red and lowring.
When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say,
There cometh a shower; and so it is.
And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say,
There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

O ye hypocrites,
ye can discern the face of the sky;
but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
A wicked and adulterous generation
seeketh after a sign;
and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.

I am come to send fire on the earth;
and what will I, if it be already kindled?
But I have a baptism to be baptized with;
and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?
I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:
I came not to send peace, but a sword.

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
The father shall be divided against the son,
and the son against the father;
the mother against the daughter,
and the daughter against the mother;
the mother in law against her daughter in law,
and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And he left them, and departed.

SOLOMON Adds - For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. Ecclesiastes 9:12
"Jesus came to a heartless, thankless people. He wrought for them in His mighty works. He healed the sick; He raised the dead, and yet they cried for a sign to be given them whereby they might believe. Wicked generation, seeking for a sign when God had given them the most powerful evidence of His mission. Jesus did not leave His people in darkness because His love was unrequited and He was unappreciated." Lt.18,1876 E.G.W.
