David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years......And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man..Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast
taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon......--Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;--Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,..And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways,....

said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:....For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God,...Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.....

But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. And Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day....And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,...

And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time...Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

His mother's name also was Athaliah...He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly...and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramothgilead: And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah,....And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah,....And Jehu followed after him, and said,

But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah. But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest....But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places... But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them. And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols:....the host of Syria came up against him: So they executed judgment against Joash. And when they were departed from him, his own servants conspired against him ...and slew him on his bed, and he died:

he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal.......Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places...But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense....And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's son was over the house, judging the people of the land....

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him....So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me. And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, ..and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria....And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof....Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying, Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD. And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

And the prophet Isaiah came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, .. O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth ..And Hezekiah wept sore.

years...But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God,...Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another;...Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight,...And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh ..for that which he did in Jerusalem.

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee,
thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded. And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him...And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah:
