IN the NEWS - The "Big One" coming to California?

Is the "Big One" coming to California?
WHO KNOWS?....Maybe...Maybe Not.....

"A megaquake along the West Coast is long overdue according to some scientists who believe a high magnitude Oregon or Calilfornia earthquake may be in the making. But are 2014 earthquake

predictions more likely to produce more shaking on the internet than of the Earth?
In related report by the Inquisitr, geologists believe it’s possible that a lack of water in the San Joaquin Valley is decreasing the weight on the San Andreas Fault, which has lead some to make predictions of more earthquakes in the San Francisco Bay area.
In the worst case scenario, it’s predicted an offshore high magnitude California earthquake could trigger a tsunami that would give residents little warning.

Ian Madin, a geologist and chief scientist at Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries, believes the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the coast of Oregon could potentially trigger a megaquake on the west coast.
“As the two plates collide,” Madin says, “the fault gets stuck, eventually slipping when enough stress builds up to produce a great earthquake…. On top of that, we have a lot of mountainous terrain that is highly susceptible to landslides, large areas that are susceptible to liquefaction, and 300 miles of coast that will be inundated by tsunamis that will arrive within 15 to 20 minutes of the earthquake and may locally reach elevations of 100 feet above sea level.” Inquisitor
