GOSPEL Gem: Healing the Leper

Synergy of Matthew 8:1-4/Mark 1:40-45/Luke 5:12-16
When he was come down from the mountain,
great multitudes followed him.

And there came a leper to him,
beseeching him, and kneeling down to him,
and saying unto him,
If thou wilt,
thou canst make me clean.

And Jesus,
moved with compassion,
put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him,
I will; be thou clean.

And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

And saith unto him,
See thou say nothing to any man:
but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest,
and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded,
for a testimony unto them.

But he went out, and began to publish it much,
and to blaze abroad the matter,
insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city,
but was without in desert places:
and they came to him from every quarter....
..and great multitudes came together to hear,
and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

Isaiah Adds - .....the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: Isaiah 1:5,6
"The work of Christ in cleansing the leper from his terrible disease is an illustration of His work in cleansing
the soul from sin. The man who came to Jesus was "full of leprosy." Its deadly poison permeated his whole body.
The leprosy was cleansed. Thus it is with the leprosy of sin,--deep-rooted, deadly, and impossible to be cleansed by human power. Whoever will fall at His feet, saying in faith, "Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean," shall hear the answer, "I will; be thou made clean." Matt. 8:2, 3, R. V."
