The 2 Dispensations

Some claim falsely that the dispensation is that before the cross we were saved by the law & after the 
The shadow of things to come began when upon the cross
(altar of sacrifice) the Lamb was slain. The work then shifted
from the earthly sanctuary to the heavenly.
cross we are saved by grace.

The truth is we were always saved by grace on both sides of the cross (never by the law) yet grace on both sides of the cross does NOT negate the law. We need the grace because we break the law (sin).

Rather, if there are any "dispensations", it would be that before the cross was the shadow of things to come-the earthly sanctuary. And after the cross the work shifts literally into the heavenly sanctuary above.

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things,

as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle:
