Isaac Newton on the Little Horn of Daniel

Sir Isaac Newton wrote more on Bible prophecy than science. Here is his list as to why the Little Horn could not have been Antiochus Epiphanes----I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, Daniel 7:8

1) A horn/beast never represents a single person

2) Antiochus was a king in Syria, so he could not have represented a new kingdom

3) The Little Horn waxed exceedingly great, yet Antiochus did not

4) The Little Horn grew greater than the previous 4 horns but Antiochus clearly did not

5) The Little Horn was a king of fierce countenance-yet Antiochus was afraid of the Romans and fled from Egypt

6) The Little Horn was mighty with help from others while Antiochus acted alone

7) Little Horn, unlike Antiochus, stood up against the prince of princes

8) Little Horn cast the sanctuary down to the ground but Antiochus left it standing

9) The Little Horn trampled the sanctuary for 2300 days - Antiochus did no such thing

10) Indignation against the Jews would last until the sanctuary was cleansed-which (at the time of Newton) had not yet happened according to him
