The Moral Influence Theory is of the idea that Christ really only died on
the cross in order to "melt" the hearts of people. Not as a substitute for our
sins. This of course-is clearly a False Doctrine. Some claim it was the dominant
theory of the so-called "church fathers" in the late 100's. But if true-so what?
That would be nearly a century AFTER the crucifixtion and the apostles. We all
know false doctrines were already creeping into the Church. -Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because many false prophets are
gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1
As for His work on the Cross- Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Hebrews 7:27
