Faith crises?

"But faith crises
**don’t happen when Christians begin asking questions.
**They happen when we stop seeking answers.

Having questions means that we must carefully research and seek
answers from sound apologetics resources and God Himself.
Instead of panicking about questions that may still remain, remember Peter’s response when Jesus asked if the disciples wanted to leave after His teachings became tough: “Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that You are the Holy One of God’” (John 6:68–69)." AIG

Creation Moment 9/2/2026 - Deeper Meaning of Genesis 2:7

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. [The ability to process Functional information (FI)Genesis 2:7

"The defining characteristic of human General Intelligence (GI) is not simply reasoning ability or the accumulation of knowledge. It is
the ability to generate genuinely new functional capabilities —
capabilities that no previous human (or other system) could perform and therefore could not have simply been acquired through training.

At first, this way of thinking about AGI may sound unconventional. Yet remarkably, it is consistent with how leading AI researchers describe AGI. Not long ago, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, while discussing AGI with physicist David Deutsch, proposed that an AI would definitely qualify as AGI if it could “…figure out quantum gravity and could tell you its story.”

Notice what makes this example compelling. It is not simply that the AI possesses vast amounts of information. A library can contain vast amounts of information without being intelligent

--Therefore, the defining characteristic of a generally intelligent system (or AGI) is not that it can perform existing functions, but that it can generate new functional capabilities that were not initially part of the system and were not transferred from another system that already possessed them.

But this immediately raises a deeper question: What allows any system to acquire capabilities it did not previously possess?
Q: What explains the origin of life?
Q: How does information convey meaning?

**A living cell is not remarkable because it contains molecules. It is remarkable because those molecules collectively perform metabolism, replication, and countless other biological functions.
**Likewise, a generally intelligent system is not remarkable simply because it stores information.

Information itself only becomes useful when some system can use it to perform a function.

**Information is not meaningful simply because it exists or because it is improbable. It becomes meaningful only if there exists a system that can interpret it and use it to perform a function.

Functional information (FI).
We can describe it as FI (I, S, F), where:
I is the information.
S is the system interpreting that information.
F is the function the system is able to perform.

Functional information is information that a particular system must correctly interpret and use to perform a particular function.
Remove any one of these three components and functional information disappears."

Children and the sermon

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart. Jeremiah 15:16

"In listening to the sermon, let parents and children note the text and
the scriptures quoted, and as much as possible of the line of thought, to repeat to one another at home.
This will go far toward relieving the weariness with which children so often listen to a sermon, and it will cultivate in all a habit of attention and of connected thought."

Creation Moment 9/1/2026 - "biology’s Einstein moment"?

... they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. Judges 2:19

"Matthew Haber at the University of Utah proposes “the rejection of absolute biological history, the idea that there is an invariant, privileged biological history against which other histories are
measured or deviate from.
” Our comment, “If one says that something isn’t real, and yet we can know it — not far down that road lies utter incomprehension.” Haber calls it “biology’s Einstein moment,” but it feels more like a surreal state.

Now along comes a new video from New Scientist instructing us that “The Human Family Tree Has No Beginning.” No biological history and no biological beginning:
Q: Are you seeing the trend? Both seem to be responses to being battered by evidence undermining ideas of universal common descent.

There is much doubt in the academic world these days, at a pretty fundamental level. Recently, for example, it came out that there is very little agreement among theoretical physicists about whether the basic facts of our universe imply anything about its origins.

That’s a sobering finding — all the new information over the past century did not result in a growing consensus among cosmologists." MindMatters
