Commentaries on the Cities

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
Zephaniah 1:3

"The pursuit of pleasure and amusement centers in the cities.
The cities of today are fast becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah
The many holidays encourage idleness. The exciting sports—theater-going, horse-racing, gambling, liquor-drinking, and reveling—stimulate every passion to intense activity.
The youth are swept away by the popular current.
When God's restraining hand is removed, the destroyer begins his work. Then in our cities the greatest calamities will come. Death will come in all places."
E.G.W.

Creation Moment 7/5/2025 - Limiting the scope of inquiry

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11

"If science declares in advance that all explanations must be
naturalistic, it effectively
limits the scope of inquiry.
In doing so, it precludes the possibility that God could act directly in the world in ways that natural processes cannot explain."

Your Calling

Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
1 Corinthians 7:20

"SOME persons have the foolish notion that the only way in which
they can live for God is by becoming ministers, missionaries, or Bible women. Alas! how many would be shut out from any opportunity of magnifying the Most High if this were the case.

Beloved, it is not office, it is earnestness;
God is most surely glorified in that cobbler's stall.
The name of Jesus is glorified by the poor unlearned carter as he drives his horse, and blesses his God, or speaks to his fellow laborer by the roadside, as much as by the popular divine who, throughout the country, like Boanerges, is thundering out the gospel.

God is glorified by our serving Him in our proper vocations.
Take care, dear reader, that you do not forsake the path of duty by leaving your occupation, and take care you do not dishonor your profession while in it.

*Think little of yourselves,
*but do not think too little of your callings.

Every lawful trade may be sanctified by the gospel to noblest ends. Turn to the Bible, and you will find the most menial forms of labor connected either with most daring deeds of faith, or with persons whose lives have been illustrious for holiness. Therefore be not discontented with your calling."
Charles Spurgeon

Using the Public Schools

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

"In 1905,
John Dewey was hired as a professor of philosophy at Columbia University Teachers College, a position he held until 1930. He was without question the most influential shaper of our modern
school system.
Dewey was also an outspoken proponent of humanism and socialism, and he believed that teachers should use their positions of authority in the classroom to advance “progressive” or Leftist ideas: “I believe it is the business of everyone interested in education to insist upon the school as the primary and most effective instrument of social progress” (which he believed meant moving away from Christianity toward humanism and socialism).

Dewey was not subtle about his ideological preferences:
The old dogmas of religion have largely lost their power…There is no room for fixed and final dogmas in the life of the mind… The hypothesis of God as a person cannot be maintained.”
The true and primary source of knowledge is not in revelation but in observation and reason.”

Creation Moment 7/4/2025 - The Damnable Heresy Taught in Schools

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, 2 Peter 2:1

"The first two tenets of Humanist Manifesto I (1933), signed by many prominent evolutionists, are:
1- Religious humanists regard the universe as self-existing and not
created.

2- Humanism believes that Man is a part of nature and has emerged as a result of a continuous process.

This is exactly what evolution teaches. Many humanist leaders are quite open about using the public schools to proselytize their faith." CMI

Axiomatic of the Scriptures

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. John 5:39

"As long as the Bible is believed to be the word of God, so long will it
be denied.
As long as the Scriptures shall be held as of authority, so long will they be opposed as such.
So long as we may present the Scriptures as the word of God, just so long shall we have to defend them as such."
A.T. Jones

Creation Moment 7/3/2025 - Arrowhead Analogy

Seeming to be wise, they were in fact foolish,... Romans 1:22 BBE

"For example, when archaeologists find an arrowhead, they can tell it
must have been
designed, even though they haven’t seen the designer.
*Yet the materialistic bias of many evolutionists means that they reject an intelligent source for the literally encyclopedic information carried in every living cell."

The line of demarcation

And this is love,
that we walk after His commandments.
This is the commandment,
That, as ye have heard from the beginning,
ye should walk in it.
2 John 1:6
“The world can only be warned by seeing those
--who believe the truth sanctified through the truth,
--acting upon high and holy principles,
--showing in a high, elevated sense, the line of demarcation between those who keep the commandments of God and those who trample them under their feet.” E.G.W.

Creation Moment 7/2/2025 - The Game

Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
Romans 1:22 NLT

"Many evolutionists chide creationists not because of the facts, but because creationists refuse to play by the current rules of the game that exclude supernatural creation a priori.

That it is indeed a ‘game’ was proclaimed by the evolutionary biologist Richard Dickerson:
"Science is fundamentally a game. It is a game with one overriding
and defining rule:
Rule #1: Let us see how far and to what extent we can explain the behavior of the physical and material universe in terms of purely physical and material causes, without invoking the supernatural."

In practice, the ‘game’ is extended to trying to explain not just the behavior, but the origin of everything without the supernatural." CMI

When that spirit enters the Church

In honor preferring one another. Romans 12:10

"At one time two of the disciples made a request, through their mother, for the two highest places in Christ’s kingdom. When the rest of the
disciples heard of it, they were moved with indignation against the two. They thought that it was unfair for the two to steal a march on them in a place for preferment.

Whenever a spirit of seeking a position for oneself, or a disposition to exercise authority over another, comes into the church, then it is the world, and not the church of Christ."
E.J. Waggoner

Papal Notes - A little bit about who the new Pope Leo is named after

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Revelation 13:15

"Another statement from the same paper from a speech by Edgar H. Gans entitled, "The Catholic Church in America," is published in the Chicago Herald of September 5, 1893. Speaking of the spirit of liberty as exemplified in the United States and gathering the statement concerning this spirit of liberty from a quotation from Webster, the speaker says:
"The Catholic church welcomes this bright and beautiful spirit and takes it to her bosom, for she is its foster mother. With tender devotion has she nourished it through the ages. Time and again has she rescued it from the bold and impious hands of despots, whether they be kings, emperors, or a popular majority enthroned. Within the church of God is the only true sovereign and the source of all power. The sovereignty of the people comes from him as a sacred trust, and they must use this trust for the common weal."

We shall find presently from the pope's encyclical that he, in the place of God, is the guardian and the source of this sovereignty. We now read the closing statement of this same speech of Mr. Gans'.
The statement is identical with one which we read last night:
"We have among us our prophets of Israel, divinely commissioned, as
were the holy men of old, to guide, instruct, ennoble, and elevate the nation; and the
American people will have achieved their highest glory when they seek the words of wisdom and truth from their lips--when they voluntarily submit to the gentle ministrations of the priests and the bishops of the holy Catholic church."

These statements need no comment.

We now read from a speech by Bishop John A. Waterson, of Columbus, in the Catholic Congress, and published in the Chicago Herald, November 6. His speech is upon Leo and Satolli, and he says this, speaking of Leo:
"By his personal dignity and goodness, the practical wisdom of his teachings and the firmness of his acts, he is giving the world to understand that the pope is a great thing in the world and for the world. [Loud cheers.] And intellects heretofore rebellious are accustoming themselves to think that, if society is to be saved from a condition worse in some respects than that of pagan times, it is from the Vatican the savior is to come. [Renewed cheering.]"

Now I turn to some other statements made last fall in connection
with the then coming encyclical of the
pope
A letter from Rome dated October 14, 1894, printed in the Catholic Standard of November 3, 1894, has this:
"The United States of America, it can be said without exaggeration, is the chief thought of Leo XIII in the government of the Roman and universal Catholic Church."

I would like to comment a little upon this as we go along.
Q: Why is it that Leo thinks so constantly of the United States?"

Creation Moment 7/1/25 - The Debate

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
"Creationists often appeal to the facts of science to support their view, and evolutionists often appeal to philosophical assumptions from outside science.
While creationists are often criticized for starting with a bias, evolutionists also start with a bias, as many of them admit.
The debate between creation and evolution is primarily a dispute between two worldviews, with mutually incompatible underlying assumptions."

Puritan Corner - Scripture

"Satan may allege and corrupt Scripture, but he cannot answer
Scripture. It is Christ’s word of mighty authority. Christ foiled Satan with it."

by Robert Leighton (1611-1684)
Then saith Jesus unto him,
Get thee hence, Satan:
for it is written..... Matthew 4:10

IN the NEWS - Imagine This......

"A massive asteroid, initially feared to be on a collision course with Earth, is now predicted to potentially strike the Moon. The "city killer" asteroid YR4, roughly the size of a 10-story building, was detected in 2024 and has a chance of hitting the Moon by 2032, as per the latest forecast from NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies.
Experts warn that if
YR4 were to hit the Moon, the event could unleash devastation akin to an atomic explosion, potentially triggering a meteor shower that might endanger satellite systems orbiting Earth." msn
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:26

Creation Moment 6/30/2025 - Quite the Admission

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools....
Romans 1:22
"Professor Richard Lewontin, a geneticist, is a renowned champion of neo-Darwinism, and certainly one of the world’s leaders in promoting evolutionary biology. He recently wrote this very revealing comment. It illustrates the implicit philosophical bias against Genesis creation regardless of whether or not the facts support it:
"We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfil many of its extravagant
promises of health and life,
in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism. It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door." CMI

When Death Enters YOUR Neighborhood

A land of darkness, as darkness itself;
and of the shadow of death, without any order,
and where the light is as darkness.
Job 10:22

"But death, whenever and wherever it is seen, has a voice for us.
*As we behold it even in the vegetable, or more especially in the animal kingdom, it is impressive.
*When it takes one of the human race, it calls still more loudly upon us.
**The thought which it then suggests is this: That class of beings of which I am a member, is subject to the destroyer, so that I, too, am under his power.
But when it comes still nearer to us; when it enters a neighborhood, and an acquaintance is taken, a friend, a school-mate, a class-mate, how much more impressive is its solemn presence.
There is, therefore, a lesson for the young in the event which we here contemplate to-day. I would then say to them, Look upon these relics of mortality, these emblems of the grave, and ask yourselves if you have any guarantee of life which he had not."
Uriah Smith

IN the NEWS - There's More..... (plus a sidenote)

For nation shall rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines,
and pestilences,
and earthquakes,
in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matthew 24:7,8

There's more to follow-up last weeks post.
*CHINA: According to news reports China may be now 50%
flooded under water!
Besides last weeks flooding by the government in the west central impacting nearly 100,000,000 people (wiping out crops, farm animals and people), and the golf ball sized hail that pounded the north (killing farm animals and destroying crops) and in the south record rainfall flooding the region along with many landslides. Looting and riots in Guangdong.
Since then there has now been the biggest earthquake in a decade in China hitting the south along with a typhoon causing even more flooding. And now----the biggest wildfires on record in China
sweeping through land and cities causing the closing of businesses and schools due to smoke.....if it's not flooded it's burning....of course we can't forget their claim a few weeks ago of a
resurgent COVID pandemic.....so the worry with all this destruction of farms and farm animals is that China could face a real Famine in the near future of the likes not seen since Mao's so-called "Great Leap Forward."....time will tell........
ELSEWHERE....
*Philippines: Several more quakes including on the Philippine Trench in the ocean as well as the capital of Manilla flooded.
*Indonesia: Volcanic eruption.
*India: Major flooding and landslides in the north.
*Columbia: Flash floods sweeping away people in their beds at night in Medellin along with a loud boom under ground and collapsing of mountain.
*France: Stunning rain and hail flooding Paris in 10 minutes along with a pounding by lightning. Also more rain/flooding into northeast France to Normandy. The southwest pounded by hail.
*Germany & Austria: Massive flooding from rain and hail in southern and western Germany and parts of Austria. Germany had serious floods also last year in 2024.
*Italy: Along with the more than 15,000 recorded small quakes in the south the last couple of months---now there is a "girgling" sound detected under Naples as well as Mt. Etna having a small eruption resulting in a "unknown substance" being spit out from beneath the earth.
*Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico: An earthquake in the Caribbean resulting in damage and death in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
*Venezuela: Rains and Tidal Waves washing inland have flooded 3 western states holding 70% of the nations farmland. Also many landslides and most bridges out hampering rescue operations.
*Thailand: Massive Flooding from rains.
*U.S.A.: Hail pounded both of the Carolinas around Metro-Charlotte. Metro-Atlanta in Georgia sees serious flooding. Central New York State sees minor flooding (Some flooding in the U.S. is routine each year -- but considering the magnitude of global flooding over the last couple of weeks.....) Also major Flooding in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio including Dayton as well as Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hail in Florida.
Mt. St. Helens in Washington State is experiencing multiple tremors with a bulge forming near the edge of the top. The McDermitt Caldera on the Oregon-Nevada border is now heating up and rising. The heatwave gripping the Midwest is said to likely last ALL SUMMER with the only relief on days it rains. Multiple 7.0 quakes off the Aleutian Island chain of Alaska were in a cluster. That usually, but not always, precedes a major tidal wave quake at some point. This one, if were to happen there due to a bigger quake, could produce waves over 1,000 feet tall that won't stop until they reach Australia and New Zealand.
WEATHER is Getting CREEPY
See Link Below for what happened Last Week:

It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday-sabbath, that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced, and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity”. E.G.W.
OBSERVE Through the PRISM of PROPHECY
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he
had two horns like a lamb,
and he spake as a dragon.
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him,
and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Revelation 13:11,12
SIDENOTE: As Trump restores America to super power status on the world stage to meet one day it's place in prophecy (by whoever is President when it comes) China, America's main rival to global leadership is being beat down.
But not only the overwhelming natural disasters pounding the nation but also it's embarrassment on the world stage over the Pakistan-
India War that lasted barely more than a weekend. Pakistan was unable to stop India at all, even from flattening it's main nuclear base. And nearly all of Pakistan's military equipment was stamped "made in China". Compare and contrast Trump's strike on Iran's nuclear sites. Imagine the message that sent to Putin and China.
And of course Trump's tariff war with China, which led to China crying uncle in a matter of weeks, nearly collapsed the Chinese economy.
IN OTHER WORDS---is anyone noticing that America's main opposition to global hegemony is slowly being reduced---militarily and economically by the U.S. President and physically by "mother nature" in a series of fast moving events?

Creation Moment 6/29/2025 - Well, Well, Well... What Do We Have Here?

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible... Colossians 1:16

"The framework behind the evolutionists’ interpretation is naturalism—it is assumed that things made themselves, that no divine intervention has happened, and that God has not revealed to us knowledge about the past.
Evolution is a deduction from this assumption, and it is essentially the idea that things made themselves.
It includes these unproven ideas:
*nothing gave rise to something at an alleged ‘big bang,’
*non-living matter gave rise to life,
*single-celled organisms gave rise to many-celled organisms, *invertebrates gave rise to vertebrates,
*ape-like creatures gave rise to man,
*non-intelligent and amoral matter gave rise to intelligence and morality, man’s yearnings gave rise to religions, etc.

Professor D.M.S. Watson, one of the leading biologists and science writers of his day, demonstrated the atheistic bias behind much evolutionary thinking when he wrote:

"Evolution [is] a theory universally accepted not because it can be proven by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative, special creation, is clearly incredible."

So it’s not a question of biased religious creationists versus objective scientific evolutionists; rather, it is the biases of the Christian religion versus the biases of the religion of secular humanism resulting in different interpretations of the same scientific data. As the anti-creationist science writer Boyce Rensberger admits:
"At this point, it is necessary to reveal a little inside information about how scientists work, something the textbooks don’t usually tell you. The fact is that scientists are not really as objective and
dispassionate in their work as they would like you to think.
Most scientists first get their ideas about how the world works not through rigorously logical processes but through hunches and wild guesses. As individuals, they often come to believe something to be true long before they assemble the hard evidence that will convince somebody else that it is. Motivated by faith in his own ideas and a desire for acceptance by his peers, a scientist will labor for years knowing in his heart that his theory is correct but devising experiment after experiment whose results he hopes will support his position."

It’s not really a question of who is biased, but which bias is the correct bias with which to be biased!" CMI

Every soul

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret
thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:4
"Every soul must answer in the judgment for everything that he has done here, and must meet there and bear the consequence of what he has done here."
A.T. Jones

Scoffers

"If you are sharing God’s Word faithfully, there will be scoffers. In fact, we should expect scoffers.
In 2 Peter 3, we are warned that the most basic teachings of God’s Word—concerning creation, the flood, and Christ’s second coming and judgment by fire—will be scoffed at: “Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following
their own sinful desires. They will say, ‘Where is the promise of His coming
For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.’ For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished” (2 Peter 3:3–6).
Yes, if we are staying true to God’s Word and we “contend for the faith” (Jude 1:3), we will have scoffers from inside and outside the church." KenHam

Isaac / Christ Parallels

"Often, people who were important in the line of the Messiah foreshadow Him in some way, and we see this with the sacrifice of Isaac
God calls Isaac Abraham’s “only son … whom you love”. There is a parallel when God says to Jesus, “You are My beloved Son” (Mark 1:11). Isaac, like Jesus
--was sacrificed willingly without a struggle and carried the wood for his own sacrifice,
--just as Jesus carried His own cross.
The parallels end, however,
--when God stops Abraham from killing his son.
--God showed no mercy to His own Son, because God’s wrath poured out on Jesus is what allows Him to show mercy to those who trust in Jesus’ sacrifice.
The ram, sacrificed instead of Isaac, then serves as another picture of Jesus—God’s Lamb slain as our substitute."

Creation Moment 6/28/2025 - This is Creation

For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.
 Ephesians 2:10

"Thus Christianity is creation.
And this is just what every professed Christian needs to learn; that
Christianity is creation, not evolution;
that Christian experience at the beginning and always is by creation, not by evolution; that it is “immediate,” “sudden,” “now,” and not a long, tedious struggle, and even then still unaccomplished.
Every soul who has had the glorious experience of the divine forgiveness and conversion, knows full well that it was accomplished “immediately,” “suddenly,” “now.”
And that is creation."
A.T. Jones
